On Bloomsday, 5 Books From Our Childhood that Need Their Own Day

Today, June 6th, is Bloomsday, a day to celebrate the work of James Joyce, specifically Ulysses, whose main character Leopold Bloom explored Dublin on June 6th, 1906. Bloomsday revelers participate in marathon Ulysses readings and even replicate Bloom’s journey. But who says there should only be one novel holiday?

These books were such a big part of so many childhoods that they deserve a spot on the calendar too.

    I can get on board with all except Harry Potter – geez, every day is Harry Potter day these days. But Madeleine L’Engle (and A Wrinkle in Time and The Wind in the Door) is the best!
