Snap This: Historically Accurate Disney Princesses

Because they’re almost universally recognizable, the Disney princesses have been treated to all manner of reimaginings through art. We’ve got zombie princesses, Sith Lord (Lady?) princesses, and movies like Mean Girls and Sucker Punch dubbed over Disney footage. But Microsoft Games artist Claire Hummel‘s new project is unique in that she doesn’t try to change the princesses; she focuses on them in the original environments in which we met them.

Hummel’s “Historical Disney” series has her drawing Jasmine, Ariel, Belle, and Snow White (more to come, hopefully!) as accurately as she can, judging from the time periods in which their stories take place. Above is a pre-Islamic Middle Eastern Jasmine and Belle modeling late-1700s French court attire; the other two you can find at Hummel’s deviantART profile.
