If you grew up in the ’90s like I did, you are about to die of joy – the TeenNick channel is resurrecting some of its best programming, with classic episodes of Clarissa Explains It All, All That, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, and other popular shows. The new programming block, “The ’90s Are All That,” will air on the channel between midnight and 2 AM, perfect time for 20somethings with insomnia to catch up on their favorite nostalgia programs. However, my all-time favorite Nick show, Roundhouse, remains a ghost.
Even when Roundhouse was on Nick – it was part of the original SNICK lineup, airing after Clarissa Explains It All and before Ren and Stimpy – it was treated like an afterthought. Its format, musical/variety, was new for the network, and the main audience of the show probably skewed older than the typical Nick viewer (I remember an entire episode about puberty, which would probably never make it to air now), and its format got cannibalized and watered down into All That. For those of you unfamiliar with Roundhouse and its awesomeness, I managed to find a grainy version of the theme song.

Roundhouse was a great show intensely creative and truly original. Programming Executives at Nickelodeon seems to think it’s either “all that” or “Roundhouse” rather than both and they seem to be choosing all that. They did this throughout the 90′s hoping people would not remember it.I think roundhouse was good enough to be shown on MTV or some of the partner networks. If Nick won’t show it one of the other stations should. People should write in to MTV to request it!!!!
GOOD QUESTION! Loved that show.www.imremebering.com
Most excited about Pete & Pete – one of the great surreal-yet-accessible shows to ever get greenlit on Nick (my apologies to Ren & Stimpy, which was genius, but completely batshit). Plus, it’s a great excuse to rediscover the sublime casting of Iggy Pop as a recurring father figure on a childrens show, and a kid lead who boasts a kick-ass tattoo. Oh, and Artie – can’t forget about him.
They should totally include “Salute Your Shorts” and “Hey Dude” in this lineup. Those were the REAL nostalgic shows from Nick for me.
