Bristol Palin‘s reign on ABC’s show Dancing With The Stars has continued throughout this season of the show, despite her low scores and many detractors. But it’s been a rough week for Sarah Palin‘s daughters. Bristol and her sister Willow were caught writing homophobic slurs on Facebook last week, and now Willow has been accused of drinking and buying pot.
Will the backlash against Sarah Palin’s family finally be enough to kick Bristol off DWTS? There are plenty of people hoping to tip the scales against her tonight right now – including a vodka company offering free shots to votes against Bristol.
Despite some dancing failures, Bristol Palin has made it to the final of Dancing With The Stars. Tonight she’ll compete for the last time, and tomorrow night she may just win the crown of DWTS winner. Her continued presence on the show has led to rumors that her mothers many supporters have been tipping the scales in her favor. But with new negative rumors spreading about Willow and Bristol every day, it may be enough to aggravate people into voting against her.
Last week, Bristol had to apologize for homophobic slurs that she and Willow wrote on Facebook after detractors slandered her mother’s new show Sarah Palin’s Alaska.
Today, Life & Style has an article claiming that Willow has been seen drinking underage and trying to procure pot:
“A former classmate of Willow’s named Lance Nezaticky has come forward and claims he saw her take part in a drug purchase in a deserted parking lot in Wasilla around last December.
“It was definitely her,” Nezaticky, 18, tells Life & Style. “There’s no question. I had met her before.”
Another student from Willow’s school claims he saw “Willow guzzle vodka directly from the bottle at a house party thrown by a mutual friend.”
On ABC, Dancing with the Stars combines judge’s marks with public voting results. Which means, that despite low scores, contestants can continue throughout the contest and even win. There is a maximum of five votes per phone line and e-mail address, but many are suspicious that Palin’s supporters have been gaming the system.
That’s why people opposing Bristol are trying to ban together now. For instance, I just received an email informing me that Georgi vodka is urging bartenders to offer a free shot of Georgi vodka to anyone who votes against Bristol Palin tonight.
Bristol’s continued presence on the show is certainly riling people up. Someone at The Huffington Post thinks her retention represents a rightwing win in the “battle over expertise and our understanding of ‘the people.‘”
Other outliers have responded to Bristol’s ABC run by sending Suspicious white powder to the set. One man even shot his television because he was so upset over seeing Bristol.
Meanwhile, the show’s professional dancers are not big fans of Bristol remaining in the contest.
Tonight is the last time that Bristol Palin dances on the DWTS. Tomorrow we’ll find out if Bristol, Jennifer Grey or Disney star Kyle Massey wins the Dancing With The Stars trophy. And it will be especially interesting to see if the outrage against the Palin family can offset the fervent support in their favor.
