Auto-Lacers: A Gadget For Those Of You Literally Too Lazy To Tie Your Shoes

You know those late night infomercials that are all about paying some guy money to patent your brilliant invention? Whenever I see those I think, “Do people still invent stuff anymore? That isn’t related to iPhone apps?” Apparently they do, and now we know why we rarely hear of these people: They make totally esoteric devices like this “auto-lacing” gizmo, which would be helpful only if you have arthritis or never learned how to tie your shoes.

The shoes themselves are cool, so that should tip you off that this gadget was actually designed as a reference to Back To The Future 2 (since Monday was Back To The Future Day…i.e. the date Doc sets his Dolerean for to go to the future in the sequel). Still, someone took a lot of time to actually make this device just to prove that something from an 80s film could be actualized. Couldn’t the dude have just made the robot dream girl from Weird Science? That would have been impressive.
