In the wake of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il‘s death, many are questioning what it means for the political state of that troubled country, as well as for the world at large. We here at Crushable totally care about those things, but we’re also somewhat curious as to what it will mean for fictional character Avery Jessup. More »

Ah, Sesame Street: Making television for toddlers palatable to adults since 1969. Not only did it revolutionize educational television, but perhaps even more impressively, it made sure that the parents, teachers, babysitters, and other adults watching the show with their favorite three-year-olds wouldn’t go crazy from its inanity. And what exactly is it about the show that makes it so amazing, however old or young you are? Its pop culture references. Little kids may not know who Isaiah Mustafa is, but their parents certainly do. Let’s take a look at some of Sesame Street’s best pop culture parodies, shall we? You just might learn something yourself! More »
It’s a girl! Tina Fey, who first revealed her pregnancy on Oprah back in April, gave birth to a healthy baby girl on Wednesday. She and husband Jeffrey Richmond, already parents to supercool 5-year-old Alice, named their second daughter Penelope Athena Richmond. This may be the most awesome name ever. I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait to see what these girls are like when they grow up. I mean, really: Children raised by Team 30 Rock? Win! Congrats to Fey and the whole family! More »
Horrible Bosses comes out this Friday, and while having a bad boss sucks, a less-than-helpful coworker can be twice as bad. So today while you grumble at an unfair workload or someone who gets by while being chronically late, ask yourself if the guy in the cubicle next to you has ever brought a firearm into work, let a kid drown, or run a car into the boss’ home. It’s all about perspective. More »
If modern product placement isn’t bad enough, for the past few years networks have been getting extra money by digitally inserting new products into old reruns — in many cases, episodes set before the product was even invented! Consumerist spotted an especially egregious one: In this How I Met Your Mother repeat, behind Robin you can see a stack of books and a magazine with an ad for Kevin James‘ new comedy Zookeeper. There aren’t even any books in the original shot!
This kind of retroactive product placement feels creepily invasive, because it’s not as if the creators or stars of the shows ever had any say in what was getting advertised. More »

Tracy Morgan update: the comedian has apologized for the hateful homophobic remarks he unleashed last weekend. Tracy’s statement reads:
“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others.
The controversy currently surrounding Tracy Morgan sounds like a 30 Rock plot line from Hell: while onstage performing stand-up in Nashville, Tracy unleashed a torrent of material condemning homosexuality. According to audience member reports, Tracy called gay people “mistakes,” accused lesbianism of being fake, spoke out against Lady Gaga‘s “Born This Way,” and even threatened to kill his own son if he ever came out. The response from the crowd was mixed: some people cheered him on, while others walked out of the 2,300-seat theater. Tracy’s now under fire for the remarks, and has yet to release any kind of a statement. More »
Alec Baldwin has joined Twitter, and he’s using it as a platform to talk about acting and also politics? We love this man, though, so as long as he’s not using the service to berate his daughter, it’s all good with us. More 30 Rock tweets, please. More »
One of 30 Rock’s best features is the fact that you can jump in at any time (even tonight’s season five finale and 103rd episode) and get what’s going on. Within five minutes you get that Jack is conservative, Jenna is crazy, and Liz is the kind of woman who likes her tampons cold. But some backstory can make any show more interesting . So, in case you’ve somehow gone an entire season without hearing the dulcet tones of Kenneth’s drawl, here are five key season five plot points. More »
Sometimes the interests of your childhood come out in your adult life. You loved your pets, and you became a vet (or professional dog walker), you were into drawing and now you’re a graphic designer, you were obsessed with video games and now it’s been seven years since you left your basement . And what you watched when you still had to schedule time in front of the TV around homework can translate to what you’ve got on your DVR now. More »
