Michael Jackson’s Daughter, Paris, Set To Appear In Film

When not breaking records as the first female footballer of her school, 13-year-old Paris Jackson is turning down offers to appear as a spokesperson for lingerie football leagues and -- apparently -- taking film roles. The middle Jackson child is slated to play the heroine in a fantasy film entitled Lundon's Bridge And The Three Keys. The film in based on a young adult series by author Dennis H. Christen. The plot details a particular type of magic that changes a dolphin into a human. Later, a darker spell transforms a young boy into a dragonfly and a "good jellyfish queen" becomes a sinister fairy godmother, according to Daily Mail. Profits from this film will reportedly go towards funding American public school system in some capacity. More »

Video: Katy Perry Wears Old Lady Makeup, Emotes In New Video For ‘The One That Got Away’

What with all the big names who’ve been releasing big budget music videos lately (Rihanna, Gaga, Pregnoncé), it seems only natural that Katy Perry would want to keep her face in the game for the sixth(!) single off her ~~toxic collection of ear poison~~ latest album Teenage Dream. And, as the video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” was pretty much the most insanely campy music video ever made, what with its cameos from Rebecca Black, Debbie Gibson, Corey Feldman and even Kenny G, it stands to reason that she’d try a different route for her follow-up: heart-wrenching drama!

In this fake biopic of Katy Perry (which stars Katy Perry as Zooey Deschanel as Katy Perry, naturally), Old Lady Katy putters around her fancy house reminiscing about (you guessed it) The One That Got Away. (I’m guessing her old husband represents old Russell Brand, in which case: ouch.) But before we discuss the utter better-than-Russell-Brand-ness of male co-star Diego Luna, can we talk about the video’s time frame? If we are to believe Old Lady Katy is looking back on actual Katy’s teen years (during which Radiohead and retro eighties styles were popular), and is now like, ninety, this is the 2070′s we’re dealing with. I refuse to believe a rich old lady in 2070 wouldn’t have a cooler-looking way to make coffee. It’s those little details that count, guys.

Anyway, Diego Luna is totally hot in the role of “tortured artist/musician boyfriend who inexplicably loves a mainstream pop singer, then dies,” so I’m willing to overlook these small failings. I’m even willing to overlook the song, which I can only listen to about thirty seconds of before I start reaching for my Tupperware of pills. (It’s okay, it’s Friday.) But, with the speakers turned off, all that’s left is Diego and Katy rolling around in their bohemian sex cave, which is…agreeable enough. Oh look, she painted a mustache on herself! What a charming Manic Pixie Dream Girl you are, Katy Perry. Now please stop blocking my view of Diego.

But theirs is a love that burns too brightly to be long for this cruel, cruel world, and so they fight. Zooey Perry ruins the painting he’s been working on, so he drives off in a huff…to his death. And just in case you weren’t crying yet, the Johnny Cash song in the end really attempts to twist the knife. Personally, the only tears I’m crying now are the rage kind, over the fact that someone signed off on putting poor, dead Johnny Cash’s music in a Katy Perry video. For shame.

Yesterday, I wrote about how Lindsay Lohan‘s current career choices are limited to only playing real people. Though she lost out on the role of Victoria Gotti in the upcoming movie about the legendary mafia family, she rebounded and took a different role – Kim Gotti – instead. However, Crazy Days and Nights reports that the role is essentially a glorified part for an extra. The role is essentially a cameo with minimal lines, and it’s such a throwaway part that the producers had planned to cast Kim Kardashian just for the stunt value. That has got to sting. When you’re fighting for roles not against other actors but against hot girls who were going to get the movie some free publicity, can you even call yourself an actress anymore?

Star Shrinking: Lindsay Lohan Can Only Play Real People

Poor Lindsay Lohan just can’t seem to catch a break. Though she’s out of rehab and isn’t going to do time for her alleged necklace-stealing, she hasn’t yet landed a film role. Although there have been a ton of casting rumors, nothing has panned out for our erstwhile LiLo. However, there is one interesting connection between all the roles she has been attached to. It seems that the only parts she’s getting offered are playing real people.

Linda Lovelace
Lindsay won the lead in Inferno, a biopic of Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace. However, her rehab schedule caused too many headaches for the production team, so she was let go and replaced with Watchmen‘s Malin Akerman.
Sharon Tate
Tate was one of Hollywood’s tragic stories – wife of director Roman Polanski, she was murdered by members of Charles Manson‘s gang when she was eight months pregnant. LiLo was reportedly offered the role of Tate in an upcoming movie about Manson called Dreamers. The movie is still in the planning stages and has not yet been confirmed.
Victoria Gotti
A movie about multigeneration mafia family the Gottis is in the works, and Victoria herself said that she wanted Lindsay to play her. It seemed like a perfect fit, as Lindsay and Victoria had many similarities, from their Long Island roots to their dark roots. However, Lindsay and her camp reportedly asked for too much money and wanted Lindsay to get paid the same as costar John Travolta, so the part was gone as soon as she landed it.
Kim Gotti
What a tangled web she weaves – no sooner had news broken that Lindsay had lost out on the role of Victoria Gotti than a new story broke that Lindsay would actually be playing Kim Gotti, wife of John Gotti, Jr. Since there’s no script yet, it’s hard to tell if this role is an upgrade or downgrade.

While we’re at it, there’s one role Lindsay was born to play – herself. Think about it: a young rising star with talent, looks, and determination, but she’s hampered by her addictions and her crazy family. It could be the best comeback ever.

Many hearts were broken – including ours – when ABC announced the cancellation of two of their long-running soaps, All My Children and One Life to Live. Though soaps get a reputation for being full of evil twins and demonic possessions (which, sometimes, they kinda are), soaps are also a breeding ground for young talent. In his episode of Inside the Actor’s Studio, Harrison Ford said that he admired soap actors because they have to memorize lots of dialogue in incredibly short amounts of time. Before we say goodbye to these two iconic shows (All My Children will conclude in September; One Life in January 2012), let’s take a look at some of the stars who got their stars in Pine Valley and Llanview.

The 15 Best Instances of Enforced Method Acting

Last week, I happened upon a fascinating article at TV Tropes that discusses the Hollywood practice of Enforced Method Acting. As opposed to when actors get really into their roles through Method acting, EMA is when directors/producers manipulate the circumstances of a movie or TV show — without the actors knowing — in order to get a more genuine reaction out of their stars. You could lose an hour reading through the list, but to save you time we’ve counted down the fifteen examples from film and TV that took us by surprise.

15. While we know that The Blair Witch Project wasn’t real, it was definitely unscripted: The actors got only a 35-page outline of the mythology, and as shooting went on, the directors denied them food and shook their tent at night to scare them. A message to the poor actors read, Your safety is our concern. Your comfort is not.

14. To make Daniel Radcliffe appropriately sad when the character of Sirius died in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, actor Gary Oldman offered to do a “warm-up” with Radcliffe — by shaking him roughly and screaming in his face. Instant tears.

13. Neil Flynn, who played the Janitor on Scrubs, got free reign with his improvisation; often the script would read, Janitor: What Neil Says.

12. Mark Hamill, a.k.a. Luke Skywalker, discovered that Darth Vader was his father only a few minutes prior to filming that famous scene in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. David Prowse, who wore Vader’s suit but didn’t contribute the voice, was told to say, “No, Obi-Wan killed your father!”

11. Brad Pitt knew that Edward Norton‘s first punch in Fight Club would be weird, but he was expecting the shoulder, not the ear (since the director told Norton, at the last minute, to change it up).

Yesterday we wondered what the hell Jeremy Piven was doing hanging with a bunch of 5th graders after he tweeted about an upcoming middle school play he was nervous about. Who lets let Ari Gold near their children? Without any context, this news was funny and absurd. Of course, that was before someone sent us the footage of Jeremy’s performance, which involved a lot of contact dance and karate moves.

Weird, and kind of adorable, right? But it’s still a long way back to Broadway, Jeremy, and starting over with some kid’s rendition of Day Man isn’t going to convince us that you’re ready to put down the sushi and do live theater again. Good start though.
