Daughtry new album, Leave This Town, drops today and I know people are really looking forward to it. Their first effort was certified quadruple-platinum and earned them all kinds of awards so I’m hoping that this follow-up is at least as good.
From what I’ve heard, there aren’t really any surprises in terms of the album’s sound. It feels like what you might expect from Daughtry so fans should be happy with it.
Here’s the tracklisting:

Constantine Maroulis garnered enough attention for his performance in Broadway’s Rock of Ages to earn a Tony nomination (shocking many, including himself). Unfortunately, the former American Idol finalist did not win but he did put on quite the show at the 63rd Annual Tony Awards (watch the video). He’s that good in this musical and now you can relive the excitement (if you got to see it live) or hear it all for the first time (if you… More »
Yesterday, People reported that American Idol Season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis, will be releasing a dance-pop album to follow up his 2007 effort, Audio Day Dream. The new album, Heartbreak on Vinyl, is expected to be released by Tommy Boy Entertainment on October 6, 2009. His new single “Sad Song” will make its debut on July 21, 2009. Of the project, Blake said: “The music in the dance scene gets me out onto the dance floor… More »
Last night when I was looking through Twitter before I went to bed, I noticed this Tweet from American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks: “Hey everyone! Please go pre-order my new album BATTLEFIELD on iTunes now! If you do you get my new song VERTIGO! RT please! Looove you! :)” The album details on Amazon don’t include previews of the songs yet, but you can check out the tracklisting below: … More »
Wilshire Records, the independent label that released the pre-American Idol music of this year’s runner-up, Adam Lambert, is trying to defend their decision. Adam voiced his disapproval and 19 Entertainment issued the following statement on his behalf: "The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on." It’s unfortunate because I can understand how having those songs released could be damaging to his career. He’s obviously grown… More »
Like his fellow season 7 alum, Brooke White, former American Idol finalist, Michael Johns, is releasing some music today and I’ve got to say that I’ve had the chance to preview his Hold Back My Heart album and it’s soooooo much better than I was expecting. Michael definitely has a great voice but my impression of his was slightly marred by the end of the competition since I think the theme weeks didn’t agree with him. It’s clear… More »
Reigning American Idol champion, Kris Allen, has revealed that he will be working with some great talents on his debut album. Along with songwriter, Claude Kelly (who penned Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” and Britney Spears’ “Circus”), producer Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas) and former Evanescence keyboardist David Hodges and Joe King of the Fray. In an interview with Billboard, he said: “I’ve been writing a lot with a lot of different people, and it’s… More »
American Idol season 7 finalist, Brooke White, will be releasing her first post-Idol album, High Hopes & Heartbreak on July 21, 2009. She released the first single “Hold Up My Heart” back in February but now returns to the airwaves with “Radio Radio.” The song is basically what you would expect from Brooke who is very much a folksy pop/indie singer. I like her tone but, for some reason, I envisioned this song sounding a little different. Either… More »
American Idol season 7 finalist, Carly Smithson, is reportedly working with Grammy Award-winning group, Evanescence on a new album called The Fallen. The band’s guitarist, Ben Moody, told Idol Tracker: “We began looking for our soulmate, which we were scared was going to take a long, long time.”
Carly seems very happy with the offer to work with the group and said: “I’m excited to be able to completely jump out of the box. The Idol thing, you know, was very… More »
I read on E! Online that American Idol Season 8 runner-up, Adam Lambert, will be working with RedOne, the producer behind Lady Gaga’s hugely successful singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.” As the article mentions, it’s starting to feel like glam rock is about to make a HUGE comeback – with a modern spin, of course. Apparently, Adam spent much of this past weekend working in a Los Angeles recording studio with the producer who has… More »
There was all sorts of news yesterday about the contracts given to this year’s American Idol finalists. I wrote about Kris Allen and Adam Lambert and now I’m happy to report that Allison Iraheta has also been signed to 19 Records. Like Kris, Allison has been licensed to Jive Records (Adam is with RCA). All three albums are expected to drop some time this fall. “I think I’m still in shock that this is happening — getting to… More »
It has been announced that both American Idol winner, Kris Allen, and his runner-up, Adam Lambert, have been signed to 19 Recordings. Kris has been licensed to Jive Records while Adam has been licensed to RCA Records. I can’t wait to see what kind of music they both come up with. I’m equally intrigued about any collaborations which can make a huge difference in their success (look at what “No Air” did for Jordin Sparks!) … More »
Canadian band, Hedley, is releasing an album for U.S. fans. The group, which is fronted by former Canadian Idol finalist, Jacob Hoggard, has chosen to put their seven #1 hits from their two double-platinum Canadian releases (Hedley and and Famous Last Words) along with other songs on the American album which will be released on May 19, 2009 (pre-order now). There are 12 songs in all. Here’s the tracklisting: She’s So Sorry … More »
LaKisha Jones released an exclusive new song called “Beautiful Girl” about her daughter just in time for mothers day. Listen to it now! American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, is releasing another single called “I’m Just Here for the Music” later this month on which she collaborated with her “Forever Your Girl," “Opposite Attract” and “(It’s Just) The Way That You Love Me” producer, Oliver Leiber. It was written by Danielle Brisebois and Wayne Rodrigues and was originally recorded by Kylie Minogue when she was prepping her Body Language album but she did not include it on the album. The… More »
American Idol season 2 winner, Ruben Studdard, has released the video for his single “Together.” I really like the song which is from his upcoming album Love IS (available on May 19, 2009). The video is pretty cute too. Here’s the tracklisting from the album which was produced by the dynamic duo, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I’m looking forward to hearing the full album because I think they, along with Ruben, could make a really great combination…. More »
David Archuleta has really grown as a performer since his days on American Idol. He was such a timid, uptight (but incredibly talented) kid and I think that it ultimately cost him the competition. I like the fact that he chose to release “Touch My Hand” from his debut, self-titled album. It really captures how fans feel at concerts and I really love that he included “fan moments” in the video. The only problem now, of course,… More »
American Idol season 7 finalist, Jason Castro, has been signed by Atlantic Records and I’m really interested to see what his album will sound like. I never thought that Jason should win the competition but I did think he deserved to be there because he is talented and unique (and pretty cute!). He’s been working with some songwriting heavyweights including Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, KT Tunstall), Sacha Skarbek (James Blunt, Jason Mraz), Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams)… More »
After announcing the release of the new albums by Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Hicks, I got many emails from you readers reminding me that there was another American Idol releasing music this week. Diana DeGarmo has released an EP titled “Unplugged in Nashville” which is now available on CD Baby, Itunes and Rhapsody. Here is the tracklisting: Kiss Me Like I’m Not Even Here Thank… More »
Have you heard Taylor Hicks’ new album The Distance yet? This is the type of album that I think Taylor should have made a long time ago and I was really happy with it. Unlike a lot of other albums today, this doesn’t try to use gimmicks to be appealing. Taylor’s vocals are the focal point, as they should be, and you’ll be treated to “real” instruments (gasp!). It’s hard for me to just pick one or two… More »
