Ali Lohan Is A Flower Child On The Cover Of Page 6 Magazine

Lindsay‘s little sister Ali Lohan landed another modeling gig, this time on the cover of Page 6 Magazine. The 17-year-old channeled her inner flower child (read: “I once watched The Wonder Years on TV!”) for the shoot. Inside the mag, she talks about an array of fun teenage-appropriate topics like plastic surgery and drug addiction. Regarding rumors she’s had work done:

“I was cracking up. Because, like, when would I do that? I’m 17 years old. That’s not legal! I would need my mother’s signature, and do you think my mom would sign off on that?”

Boy, you really don’t want to make us answer that. Ali also discussed her say-know-to-drugs attitude, crediting her sister as being a cautionary tale. We certainly hope this is true — it would be nice to see a Lohan turn out okay.

Dakota, we know you’re hardcore after you did The Runaways, but you really didn’t need this encounter to up your cred. And there was no reason to drag your younger sister into this—a photo session with “Uncle Terry,” a man who’s repeatedly been accused of sexually harassing his models.

I want to know which agent decided that these girls, who regularly walk the red carpet in designer duds and have high-profile film projects lined up, needed to do this for attention. Maybe I’m overreacting, but I see Elle as one of the few Hollywood kids untainted by all that bullshit; photo shoots like this make me envision her as going down the same route as Ali Lohan, and that’s just not good.

Oh God, Elle is wearing his glasses. Nonono.

Newly-minted fashion model Aliana Lohan – with her newly-minted face — has already done two inappropriately sexual photo shoots. Her latest gig, which got her the cover, is closer to high-fashion than skeevy exploitation… but you have to giggle at the fact that it’s for a magazine called Fault.

What angers us most about this situation is that Ali’s startlingly skinny body and likely surgically-enhanced face are a cry for help, but are either ignored or encouraged by mother Dina. When you see the Lohans, they’re falling all over each other at parties. Older sister and supposed role model Lindsay – who we’re convinced is a meth addict — just got her probation revoked and might end up in jail.

Ali looks too old for 17 in this shoot, and even though she’s not doing anything inappropriate, we still worry about her. And really, you would’ve thought momager Dina could find a magazine with a less on-the-nose name.

This photo of what appears to be the perverse act of Lindsay Lohan making out with her own mother was taken at mom Dina Lohan‘s 49th birthday party. The rest of the Lohan clan was there, too — Michael Jr., Cody, and Aliana, who made her first public appearance since rumors of a potential modeling-related plastic surgery procedure and/or eating disorder began circulating. In photos taken that night, 17-year-old Ali looks frighteningly thin as she swims in her clothing against a backdrop of various celebrities.

I remember my mother’s own 49th birthday. It was a nice, fun evening: my dad cooked dinner and following that we all had cake. I made Mom a card and bought her what was probably a pair of earrings or a sweater — certainly not a Chanel gift bag, ostensibly gotten for free at a Fashion Week event, like Lindsay gifted Dina. There wasn’t a person in the room at my mother’s birthday dinner who could claim any amount of plastic surgery and no one felt guilty eating the cake. I would venture to say that a celebration like mine was a pretty typical way to ring in a family birthday. But add a paparazzi photographer to the mix and being a teenager at a family gathering takes on new gravity. Here’s a comment Lindsay posted to Twitter about the attention Ali has been getting:

“I love how haters pick on my sister yet every runway model is just as thin! My sister is gorgeous and I’m so proud of her and her career!!!!”

The notion of whether or not Ali “gorgeous” isn’t the focus of the controversy surrounding her. Nor is society necessarily questioning the beauty of too-thin runway models — being beautiful and being unhealthy are not mutually exclusive. People are alarmed because they’re looking at a girl who appears drastically different from the way she looked just months ago, and that’s anything but typical, even for a teenager hitting a growth spurt. Seeing something so disturbing shifts focus to the family — and when this teen’s mother is out getting shitfaced and falling all over her other daughter (her recovering addict daughter), it becomes even more difficult to accept that Ali’s situation is a healthy one.

Why are people looking at photos like the one above and reacting so strongly? Well, for one, because we’re bored at our desks and we love gawking at celebrities. But I’d like to believe there’s also an element of genuine concern at play here — for Ali and for a society that encourages a teenage girl to follow in the self-destructive footsteps of her older sister.

When I posted this gallery of Ali Lohan modeling in a manner I felt was inappropriate for a teenage girl, several commenters told me, essentially, to lighten up. One compared Ali’s photos to the Toddlers and Tiaras toddler-prostitute scandal of the same week — in her opinion a much greater crime. I definitely agree that there are degrees of offense when it comes to the exploitation of young girls. However these skimpy-clothes and lingerie photos, taken from Ali’s Next Model Management profile, seem indisputably inappropriate fare from a high schooler.

Whether or not you believe a 17-year-old has the wherewithal to make decisions about her own body, the reality of the situation is that she’s a minor under the guardianship of her mother. And when her mother is Dina Lohan, a woman whose judgment has time and time again been clouded by a yearning for fame, it’s hard to see these photos as more than an attempt to stir up headlines (looks like we’re feeding right into that) and garner more fame for the family.

In terms of degrees of female exploitation, are these photos the worst I’ve seen? No; they’re hardly the worst I’ve seen this week. All I know is that I’m 26, and if someone had taken sexualized photos of me at 17, I’d most definitely regret it by now.

The more we find out about 17-year-old Ali Lohan‘s new modeling career, the more disheartened we feel. First there were allegations of plastic surgery and extreme weight loss, and now we see that the fruit of Ali’s labors have added over-sexualization to the list of offenses.Her first job, for the jean brand PRVCY, has her looking all pouty with her midriff bared and her ass in the air. Appropriate behavior from a minor, no?

Next Model Management Denies That Ali Lohan Has Gotten Plastic Surgery

In light of the controversy that exploded yesterday over what is ostensibly celeb little sister Ali Lohan‘s totally new face, the modeling agency that signed her has come out in denial against the rumors that Ali has undergone what appears to be a massive amount of plastic surgery (cheek implants, lip injections, and some nose and chin stuff). In a statement, a spokeswoman for Next Model Management explained:

“As a young girl who is growing up, it’s natural for her facial features to change slightly, and we see this with many of the younger models we represent. Aliana is a beautiful 17-year-old girl who is growing into her face and body, as is the norm for someone of her age. We take pastoral care of our models very seriously and encourage the models to maintain a healthy lifestyle and body shape

While we’re extremely skeptical of the validity of this statement, the only conceivable explanation for Ali undergoing such a drastic change in appearance over such a short period of time is that she lost an amount of weight so unhealthy that it radically transformed her features. Women with eating disorders often do become unrecognizable as their disease progresses to the point where they’re little more than pure bone. How much weight, exactly, would Ali needed to have lost to alter her face in such a dramatic way? Here’s a photo of the teen from 2009 where she’s already looking pretty twig-like:

So the answer is: an incredibly unhealthy amount of weight, it seems. So, if weight loss is the case, what we’re dealing with here is a teenage girl who’s being asked to adhere to unreasonable standards of beauty in what is merely a different terrible way. Plastic surgery or eating disorder: pick your poison. (Literal poison, please!)

Aliana T. Lohan, “chameleon-like beauty,” is currently making good on that description by looking a bit different than she did a year ago. And by “a bit different,” I mean fucking unrecognizable. Gone is the freckle-faced cutie who first gained prominence for wearing age-inappropriate clothing while standing next to her older sister in photos. In a small space of time, the 17-year-old appears to have had her lips plumped, her cheekbones enhanced, and possibly her nose “refined.” She also appears to have had done something to make her eyes open wider, which I didn’t know was possible. The only change I’m into at all is the eyebrows, because a full, well-shaped brow looks nice on most people, and because it didn’t involve taking a scalpel to a child’s face.

The Fab Life notes that she looks “shockingly thin,” because duh, the fashion industry takes naturally skinny people and puts them on diets, but I think it’s at least partly due to her newly enlarged face making the rest of her look smaller by comparison.

I hate to say it, but from afar, she does sort of approximate the kind of lanky, lollipop-headed, dramatic-featured teenager the fashion industry likes to dress up in fineries and photograph. She’s also looking a lot less Long Island, which is always good. She should be careful, though. Her sole claim to fame thus far is her proximity to her tabloid-y but legitimately famous sister, and if she changes her appearance too much, people may no longer be able to identify her as a Lohan. Then again, with the 24/7 histrionic soap opera that is her family, maybe she wants to distance herself from them. It was either this or the witness protection program, and this had better parties.

Lesser Lohan Ali (or as she’d like to be known from now on, Aliana T), has officially signed a contract with NEXT Model Management, the same agency that reps Milla Jovovich and Molly Simms. As her new twitter account proclaims, she’s now a real model. (Don’t try to follow her. It’s boring. I will let you know if it ever gets exciting.)

“In fashion, Ali will set herself apart as a bona fide icon,” NEXT LA Director Alexis Borges told RadarOnline. “One that fashion fans will follow not because of her famous last name, but because of the beautiful images and fashion trends she is helping create.” Perhaps sensing she (he?) needed to be more specific as to what, exactly, makes Lohan a good model, Alexis told JustJared that “she represents the future face of fashion and will be a photographer’s dream with her chameleon-like beauty.” O RLY?

Ali Lohan’s always been a little cutie, but I’m not sure she’s really got that intense, alien beauty required of high fashion models. Here are some pictures of the 17-year-old “showing off her sexy side” while modeling clothes from her older sister’s line, 6126:

Then again, I guess someone in the family has to be working now that Lindsay’s problems have caused a slump in her schedule. It’ll be interesting to see if NEXT is able to make people take her seriously enough to land her any major campaigns.
