Cute Post-Idol Jordin Sparks Q&A

Cute Post-Idol Jordin Sparks Q&A

After being crowned the American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks sat down with People magazine for a cute little interview. Jordin fans will love it!
Have you gotten your driver’s license? And are you a good driver? Yeah, I have my driver’s license. I actually got it July of last year, so it was about before I went and auditioned. So, I’m ok, I haven’t gotten any tickets or anything yet. I’m all right.
How did you do on your driver’s test?
Well,… More »

This Week in American Idol Controversies

This Week in American Idol Controversies

With all the chatter this morning, I thought it would be appropriate to review some of the confirmed controversies surrounding American Idol:
In an interview prior to the start of the fifth season of American Idol, Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe revealed for the first time that Clay Aiken had led the fan voting every week from the Wild Card week onward until the finale, when the possibly-random voting result gave Ruben Studdard the win. Of course, the truth will probably… More »

Results Show – April 11, 2007

Results Show - April 11, 2007

Since it is latin week, I will stick with the theme and say “Hasta la vista, baby!”

Her Ho Patrol has obviously become the “No” Patrol. Haley Scarnato is going home. I think making the contestants sing after their elimination is cruel and in this case, I feel like I’ve been punished as well.

I must say that I agree with the bottom three. I think Jordin was a bit worse than Chris but Phil is getting on my last nerve. He… More »

The Post-Show Post!!!

The Post-Show Post!!!

Well, wasn’t tonight full of surprises! Let’s look at a recap of this evening’s performances.

Melinda Doolittle

Okay, I need to voice my frustration here. Melinda is a fantastic singer. Tonight, she delivered a good performance of “Sway.” That’s right, I said good – not great. Aside from looking like Martin Short with her dance moves, I’m totally tired of her not picking challenging songs. If she is going to consistently pick easy, repetitive tunes, she needs to blow me away -… More »

The Sanjaya Report – Tuesday Edition

The Sanjaya Report - Tuesday Edition

Well, I’ve decided that as long as Sanjaya Malakar is on the show, I’ll produce a “Sanjaya Report” twice a week in order to contain all of his news. The sheer amount of hype around this single contestant is mind-boggling, so here’s the latest:

Gina Glocksen Defends Sanjaya

In a recent interview, Gina referred to Sanjaya as a friend and had the following to say – “It’s funny that everyone is asking is it tough that Sanjaya did , I mean it’s… More »

No Asians on Idol?

No Asians on Idol?

In a recent post, a visitor left me a comment that involved the racial politics of American Idol. It got me thinking about the first major accusation of racism against the show (not that I am implying that racism is present, I’m just asking an open-ended question).

When Jennifer Hudson was voted off, there was such a public uproar that the question of racism was immediately raised. Even Elton John got involved in the debate, despite the fact that, of the… More »

Call Me Irresponsible…or Drunk!

Call Me Irresponsible...or Drunk!

Okay, so not only was I pressed for time this morning, I also thought that maybe I was pushing my luck with the Bat Boy and Nosferatu comparisons but this must be said: What was up with Michael Bublé?

He is one of my favorite artists and, as a fellow Canuck, I am proud of everything he has done. Last night, however, I almost cowered behind my couch. Any dedicated hockey fans might compare this to when Jann Arden sang the… More »

It’s the fifth most popular search for Phil Stacey so I thought I would include it.

My First Tears – This Season’s First Shocker (not including Sanjaya)

My First Tears - This Season's First Shocker (not including Sanjaya)

I wasn’t a fan of most of the performances last night and I thought Gina did okay, (not great, but okay) but there is NO WAY that I thought she should go home tonight!!!! This is the first real shocker of the season for me and my throat is tender from screaming. Haley stayed, so the Ho Patrol must be alive and well (and voting…yuck). I hope to see her again.

Sinner or Savior?

Sinner or Savior?

Well this is an interesting turn of events. I woke up this morning to read several articles that claim that Sanjaya has saved this season of Idol. I’m not sure what to say. Here’s a link to just one of the videos (Constantine Maroulis is a guest co-host).

Poseur Idol? Attack of the Clones

Poseur Idol? Attack of the Clones

Wow. Some have called this season’s contestants dull and unoriginal. Tonight might have been an example. Classics are classics and must be respected but, while almost everyone sang well enough, there was little that will keep me up tonight.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO TELLING CONTESTANTS TO TAKE RISKS (Haley risked a “wardrobe malfunction” but that doesn’t count)?

My co-blogger, Jason, has done a fine job live-blogging the show tonight, so I’m just going to add my two cents about the performances.

Blake doesn’t have to beatbox every… More »

Jordin Sparks Toured with CCM Artist Michael W. Smith

Jordin Sparks Toured with CCM Artist Michael W. Smith

I already liked Jordin before this, but this makes me root for her even more. Jordin Sparks toured on Michael W. Smith’s Christmastime Tour in 2005-2006.

I could be wrong, but I could almost guarantee you’ll never see Jordin having the same problems some other contestants are having right about now.

Way to go Jordin, for more information you can read a longer post about Jordin’s experience touring with Michael W. Smith, along with comments Smitty himself wrote about Jordin when they… More »
