General Larry Platt tells The View about "Pants on the Ground"

On Monday, January 18th General Larry Platt made an appearance on The View. He performed his viral hit “Pants on the Ground” and he was so into it that I’m not sure he would have stopped if Sherry Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck hadn’t pulled him up off the floor to go chat with them.

Also, might I just add that Larry Platt has strong abs? Seriously, check out his moves at the end of the performance. I’m not sure I can do that!

Sherry and Elisabeth asked him what inspired him to write “Pants on the Ground” and he told them about the time he was walking downtown and saw a guy sucking on a baby bottle and dragging his pants on the ground.

Elisabeth also asked him how he felt when he saw himself on American Idol. Larry said it filled him with joy. He must have been very happy indeed when Elisabeth showed a video of Brett Favre and his teammates singing “Pants on the Ground” in the locker room after they won their game!

I love that Larry Platt is getting so much attention. He seems like a genuinely cool guy with a simple message and it’s nice to see him on TV.

Matt Giraud Update – Life Since American Idol

American Idol season 8 finalist, Matt Giraud, was interviewed earlier this week about his experience since appearing on the show.

He said that he’s been enjoying a little time off since the grueling 52-date Idols Live! tour ended. He said it was great being able to actually meet the Idol fans since he was used to performing and going straight home when he was on the show. I can imagine that it was fun to see how people were truly reacting to them in real life!

Matt talked about his upcoming show, Make the Cut, which is a Michigan-based online singing competition. He was asked to be a mentor and a judge which he said is like being on the other side of his Idol experience. Of course, on a far smaller scale…

He talked about his writing and said that we can expect some bluesy music in the future.

New Kris Allen Single “Live Like We’re Dying”

When I first heard about this song, I have to admit that I got it confused with the Tim McGraw hit “Live Like You Were Dying” but after hearing Kris Allen’s new single “Live Like We’re Dying” it’s clear that these songs are nothing alike.

First of all, can I just say that I’m so glad that Kris is putting “No Boundaries” behind him? Yeah… and it’s not that I think the song isn’t good (although I really am not a fan of it) but it was clear that he was uncomfortable with it which really is a bad way to start a career.

Anyway, I really like this song and I think that Kris’ talent really shines through. I think that he’s got an amazing voice which is incredibly radio-friendly so hopefully this song will do quite well for the most recent American Idol winner.

Danny Gokey Gets Signed to 19 Recordings Record Label!

American Idol season 8 contestant, Danny Gokey, must be thrilled at the fact that he has officially been signed by 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville! This makes him the last of the top 4 contestants for that season to be signed with a record label, following Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and winner Kris Allen. Actually, Danny is making history because this is the first time that Idol’s label has signed the top four contestants of a single season!.

Joe Galante, chairman of Sony Music Nashville said of Gokey, "We absolutely love Danny. We haven’t had anybody like that (in country) since Ronnie Milsap or T. Graham Brown." He also praised Danny’s "soulful edge", which made viewers and the Idol judges fall in love with him on the show.

Danny also spoke on his choice for turning to country music, saying that while on the show, "I was so wet behind the ears, I didn’t know where I wanted to go. But I most related to the message and the music of country."

I’m sure Danny’s extremely excited and proud! I can’t wait to hear some music from him and see where he goes with this label. Hopefully, it’ll go well for him!

Former American Idol Hopeful Alexis Cohen Found Dead

I’m so sad about this bit of news! Do you remember Alexis Cohen? She tried out twice for the show and the first time, her potty-mouthed tirade became legendary after the judges failed to put her through (Simon Cowell even told her that she looked like Willem Dafoe). They went so far as to call her “scariest woman in Philadelphia" but I actually kinda liked her rendition of “Somebody to Love.” She said that she was studying to be a vet and was living in a studio apartment with her mom, two cats and a dog.

She came back for the Season 8 auditions and was a lot calmer and refined. I was really shocked at her transformation! She sang “Like a Prayer” and, again, I didn’t find her that bad but Simon said she was “fairly horrendous.” She replied by giving him the finger and calling him an a**hole.

The very sad and tragic news is that Alexis has been found dead. The Allentown Call said that she was discovered lying “outside around 4 a.m. by two passersby who called 911. She was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J., where she was pronounced dead around 6:35 a.m.” They believe that the 25-year-old was the victim of a hit-and-run.

American Idols Live! San Diego Concert in Pictures

Here are some pics from the San Diego show. Of course, the set and song lists are the same but I’m sure each night brings a new flavor to it. I’m loving the pics of Adam Lambert in the trucker hat. I wonder if they get tired of the clothes (or each other). Who does all the laundry if they are on a tour bus? What is Scott MacIntyre wearing around his neck? Anyway, enough digressing. Allison Iraheta Sings “Barracuda” on the Tonight Show

I know this was a few days ago but I found a video of Allison Iraheta performing “Barracuda” on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. She replaced American Idol winner, Kris Allen, who had to bow out of the appearance after a death in his family.

I’m a big fan of Heart so I’ve always loved “Barracuda” and I don’t know if anyone can sing it quite like they did but I think Allison does a great job. She was already pretty great while she was on Idol but I feel like her vocals have matured even more since then.

Kris Allen Cancels Appearance on Tonight Show After Death in Family

Access Hollywood is reporting that Kris Allen’s grandmother has passed away and, while he mourns the loss, he has opted to bow out of a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

If you follow the reigning American Idol on Twitter, you probably say this message last night: “I know I was supposed to do conan on wed, but there was a death in my family.”

In case you are worried that he might not be at some of the upcoming American Idols Live tour dates, don’t fret. He hasn’t canceled any appearances yet.

If you were really looking forward to some Idol action on Conan this week you’re in luck. Finalist, Allison Iraheta will be filling in for Kris and he seems confident that she’ll do a great job. He tweeted: Allison “is filling in. And by filling in I mean @Allison4Realzzz is gonna rock Conan’s face off on Wednesday.”

Set your DVRs Iraheta fans!
