American Idol Season 9

American Idol 9 – Chicago auditions

American Idol 9 â Chicago auditions

Tonight American Idol took over Chicago as they sought out more contestants worthy of trying to become the season nine winner. Tonight’s guest judge was country music superstar Shania Twain, and apparently Kara DioGuardi was very excited about it since she told cameras that she was “going to go stalk Shania” upon her arrival.

After watching the show, it seems that Chi-town brought an interesting balance. The ones who were good were really VERY good, but unfortunately there weren’t very… More »

American Idol scandal just one week in

American Idol scandal just one week in

It seems like almost every season on American Idol there’s some sort of “scandal” (I use the term loosely), whether it’s a supposedly amateur contestant who had a prior record deal or someone who’s been in trouble with the law. As of now we’re only one week in to the new season but we’re already hearing about the latter.

Remember Anthony Wheeler also known as the semi-arrogant and more-than-semi-annoying Skii Bo Ski? While he surprised the judges by having a decent… More »

Larry Platt becomes a viral internet success

Larry Platt becomes a viral internet success

Well Simon Cowell sure called it when he said that he had a terrible feeling that “Pants on the Ground” could be a hit. Apparently he was absolutely right because although Larry Platt – sorry, General Larry Platt – was too old to be able to audition for American Idol, it turns out that he’s not too old to be famous now that his creation has gone viral.

“Pants on the Ground” has become so popular that it’s pretty much everywhere…. More »

Video clips from American Idol 9 Atlanta auditions

Video clips from American Idol 9 Atlanta auditions

The American Idol Altanta auditions have come and gone but we’ll see the gold ticket winners soon when Hollywood Week airs. In the meantime we can look back fondly thanks to some video clips of the auditions.

Small-town girl Vanessa Wolfe takes some time to jump off bridges before performing “Wagon Wheel” for the judges. I really liked her. I don’t expect her to be my favorite but I hope she’s able to make something of herself after hearing her story.

Idol Atlanta auditions: General Larry Platt – “Pants on the Ground”

Idol Atlanta auditions: General Larry Platt - "Pants on the Ground"

I’ll have some video clips from the American Idol Atlanta auditions up tomorrow but I couldn’t go to bed without helping General Larry Platt get a bit more exposure. The 62-year-old attempted to audition with an utterly hilarious original song called “Pants on the Ground”.

I loved how everyone was in hysterics. I also laughed when he finished and Randy Jackson said, “Imma buy some belts after this!”… More »

American Idol 9 – Atlanta auditions

American Idol 9 - Atlanta auditions

The second night of auditions for American Idol 9 took over Atlanta and as you can see, people were pretty excited to be there.

Welcome to Atlanta y’all!

Atlanta saw Mary J. Blige who stepped in as guest judge for the auditions which was pretty exciting for me, I was really looking forward to seeing what she would have to say to potential Idols. The location was particularly daunting, even more than the judges were – hopefuls had to ride alone in… More »

Video clips from American Idol 9 Boston auditions

Video clips from American Idol 9 Boston auditions

I have a few video clips from the American Idol season nine Boston auditions to share with you in case you missed the show last night or wanted to re-live some of the highlights that I posted yesterday

The oh-so-charming (NOT) Andrew Fenlon with all of his attitude.

I think that Kara DioGuardi might have been a little bit over-the-top with her level of anger towards the guy but it’s not too hard to understand. It was the end of the day,… More »

American Idol 9 – Boston Auditions

American Idol 9 - Boston Auditions

Season nine of American Idol kicked off tonight with the good, the bad, and the ugly. There were the gold ticket winners who were good, there were the bad that make you scratch your head as you wonder why they auditioned, and then there were the ugly – you know, the ones who get angry and freak out when they aren’t sent through to Hollywood. Ah, Idol, I’ve missed you!

I have a love-hate relationship with the audition process… More »

Randy Jackson says season nine has “bona fide singers”

Randy Jackson says season nine has "bona fide singers"

There are mere days left before the premiere of American Idol season nine and veteran judge Randy Jackson wants us to know that this season we’ll be seeing some – in his words – “bona fide singers” on our television screens.

Now the thing is, I’m sure that’s true. Pretty much every season has had at least a few people who have so much singing talent that I’ve sat there thinking, “WOW” as they performed each week. So undoubtedly, if you’re… More »

Victoria Beckham is the first guest judge to kick off season nine

Kara DioGuardi promises big surprise performers for season 9

Kara DioGuardi promises big surprise performers for season 9

Even if you don’t watch Britain’s Got Talent, almost everyone knew who Susan Boyle was. She was the shock sensation of the year even if she didn’t win the competition. When she walked out on stage, older than the usual singing competitors we’re used too, and looking rather frumpy no one expected the beautiful voice that came out of her mouth when she started her song.

With season nine of American Idol starting up in just one week’s time, Kara DioGuardi… More »

With American Idol kicking off season 9 in just a few weeks, I’m already pretty excited to see all the new talent, pick my favorites, and see who goes right through to the end. After seeing this new promo trailer with Ellen DeGeneres it’s even worse! I can hardly wait!

I love Ellen and think she’s going to be amazing as a judge.

I also found a few sneak peek videos of Idol hopefuls, check them out below the cut!

American Idol Schedule all laid out

American Idol Schedule all laid out

With American Idol season just around the corner, fans of the show are eagerly waiting to see who will be crowned winner this year. I don’t know about everyone else, but I love to watch the auditions and Hollywood Week to see if I can pick out the most likely one(s) to make it to the end. Usually I do pretty well, either rooting for the winner or the runner-up.

Luckily for those of us who feel that the… More »

Katy Perry Voices Appreciation for Simon Cowell

Katy Perry Voices Appreciation for Simon Cowell

When Katy Perry serves as a guest judge on American Idol, she could turn out to be an ally for Simon Cowell.  Apparently, the singer feels that it’s more important to be honest with contestants than to spare their feelings.  She said: "I might become a little bit of a buddy with Simon because whenever I watch that show, as much as he’s an asshole, he’s a very truthful, honest a**hole. I don’t want to break their hearts,… More »

Are These American Idol Guest Judges Really Necessary?

Are These American Idol Guest Judges Really Necessary?

So far, we know that Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige and now Shania Twain have been tapped as guest judges on American Idol and my first question is – what do you think?  I have to say that I don’t really understand why they need the guest judges at all.

Here’s the thing – American Idol started as a three-judge show and now, since Paula Abdul quit, it’s back to being a three-judge show.  If they weren’t willing to fight to… More »

Paula Abdul Reportedly Turned Down 30% Raise

Paula Abdul Reportedly Turned Down 30% Raise

I have no idea what is true or false any more but CBS is reporting that Paula Abdul left American Idol after producers offered her a 30% raise!  Wow! CBS News correspondent, Priya David, is quoted as saying the following:  "This all came down to money… was being offered a 30 percent pay raise that amounted to an eight-figure deal, but that, apparently, wasn’t enough." The article speculates that this turn of events has occurred because… More »

Ryan Seacrest “Stunned” By Paula’s Departure

Ryan Seacrest “Stunned” By Paula’s Departure

If Paula Abdul had planned to quit American Idol, she definitely didn’t let co-worker, Ryan Seacrest, know about it.  On his radio show this morning, he said the following:  “The news stunned me last night.  I was shocked… She’s a dear friend. I love her to death and am really sad that it came to fruition.  I’m just bummed because we’ve worked together for so many years. It’s sad.” I speculated that it might be a stunt to… More »

American Idol 9 Auditions Start June 12, 2009

The lights have only begun to dim on the eighth season of American Idol but, already, they have announced part of the audition schedule and it begins this month!  Can you believe that!?   Since the auditions are coming up so soon, shouldn’t they have already ironed out a deal with Kara DioGuardi, if they are keeping her?  Isn’t Paula Abdul’s contract also up for negotiation?  I love the fact that this is happening already because the rumors will… More »
