American Idol 9 – Chicago auditions
Tonight American Idol took over Chicago as they sought out more contestants worthy of trying to become the season nine winner. Tonight’s guest judge was country music superstar Shania Twain, and apparently Kara DioGuardi was very excited about it since she told cameras that she was “going to go stalk Shania” upon her arrival.

American Idol scandal just one week in
It seems like almost every season on American Idol there’s some sort of “scandal” (I use the term loosely), whether it’s a supposedly amateur contestant who had a prior record deal or someone who’s been in trouble with the law. Larry Platt becomes a viral internet success
Well Simon Cowell sure called it when he said that he had a terrible feeling that “Pants on the Ground” could be a hit. Apparently he was absolutely right because although Larry Platt – sorry, General Larry Platt – was too old to be able to audition for American Idol, it turns out that he’s not too old to be famous now that his creation has gone viral.

The American Idol Altanta auditions have come and gone but we’ll see the gold ticket winners soon when Hollywood Week airs. In the meantime we can look back fondly thanks to some video clips of the auditions.

Idol Atlanta auditions: General Larry Platt – “Pants on the Ground”
I’ll have some video clips from the American Idol Atlanta auditions up tomorrow but I couldn’t go to bed without helping General Larry Platt get a bit more exposure. The 62-year-old attempted to audition with an utterly hilarious original song called “Pants on the Ground”.

Season nine of American Idol kicked off tonight with the good, the bad, and the ugly. There were the gold ticket winners who were good, there were the bad that make you scratch your head as you wonder why they auditioned, and then there were the ugly – you know, the ones who get angry and freak out when they aren’t sent through to Hollywood. American Idol season nine starts TONIGHT!
Okay folks! Cue your PVR, set your alarm, put your kids to bed early. Whatever it takes, do not forget that American Idol kicks off season nine TONIGHT with our first round of auditions.
The show airs from 8pm to 10 pm EST on Fox (Canadians can also catch it at the same time on CTV) and will concentrate on the Boston auditions. It also features Victoria Beckham as the first guest judge.

Even if you don’t watch Britain’s Got Talent, almost everyone knew who Susan Boyle was. She was the shock sensation of the year even if she didn’t win the competition. I have no idea what is true or false any more but CBS is reporting that Paula Abdul left American Idol after producers offered her a 30% raise! Wow!
