Parting Tweet: Comedian Matt Manser Assesses Anthony Michael Hall’s Arrest

Anthony Michael Hall: Brat Packer, comeback kid, disturber of the peace. The 43-year-old actor was arrested Tuesday night after an incident in the courtyard of his condo complex left him ripping up plants and shouting obscenities at his neighbors. Evidently, police were called after he knocked on a neighbor’s door and challenged him to a fight. (Judd Nelson declined to comment.)

We like comedian Matt Manser’s imagined jailhouse scenario. Although a Breakfast Club situation would necessitate some drug bonding, and given AMH’s history of substance abuse, that probably wouldn’t end too well. Lessons learned: leave the foliage alone and keep the John Hughes plot devices to a minimum.

Comedian Brody Stevens Livetweets a Manic Breakdown, Nearly Gets Arrested

Something strange has been going on with comedian Brody Stevens these past few days: he appears to be live-tweeting a mental breakdown that has become so intense as to warrant police intervention. If you don’t know who Brody Stevens is, he’s a talented comedian who has appeared in both Hangover films as well as Sarah Silverman’s Jesus Is Magic. Last week, he received some attention when he took over hosting duties for the show TMZ on TV, and yesterday he was handcuffed and nearly arrested after an altercation at a Los Angeles Starbucks

From what I can tell from Brody’s Twitter timeline, which is rather confusing, this is the gist of the arrest situation:

Brody took a trip to a Starbucks in the San Fernando Valley, where, according to his Twitter, he was “looking for mean people.” Brody evidently tried to approach a man who was wearing similar shoes as him and was blown off, so he began to berate the guy. This led to the man reporting Brody to a female Starbucks employee. At this point, Brody starting talking about his TMZ work, then left to sit outside. The manager of the Starbucks was brought out to speak to him and, again, Brody brought up TMZ. Then he went back inside and began yelling at the man again. A woman inside the store asked him to calm down and he began yelling at her, once again, invoking his work with TMZ. This woman’s boyfriend intervened and more screaming occurred. Following this, Brody went outside and had yet another altercation with a man named Jose (who may be the aforementioned boyfriend), which led to him spilling his coffee. At this point, the police arrived and handcuffed Brody, although he was never arrested.

There’s been some speculation that this is some kind of Andy Kaufman-esque comedy performance art. Ostensibly, this could be a criticism of the way people become famous now – via TMZ coverage of their lives and obsessive tweeting. A parody of Kim Kardashian meets Charlie Sheen, if you will. If it is, in fact, some absurdist performance, it’s certainly crossing a line. Brody’s a large man, and berating a woman could certainly be construed as posing a physical threat to her. Additionally, many of his tweets have contained racist content. For example, explaining the final altercation, Brody said, “Because his NEGATIVE FUCKING LATINO SLOPPY ATTITUDE I spilled my coffee. He wouldn’t get me one. Disrespected me…”

If this is a genuine breakdown, I sincerely hope that Brody gets the help he needs, and soon. As I said earlier, he’s a talented comedian, and by all accounts I’ve ever heard, is usually a very nice guy.

UPDATE as of 8/11 : It appears that Brody did, in fact, suffer a genuine manic episode and has been checked into the hospital where he’s hopefully receiving the treatment he needs.

Check Out ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ Husband Joe Giudice’s Mugshot

Joe Giudice’s mugshot has just been released, Daily Mail reports. The husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, was arrested last Friday, March 25, on charges of fraudently obtaining a New Jersey driver’s license. His license was suspended last year, and he spent 10 days in jail on charges of driving on a suspended license. Now, Joe is accused of going to the DMV and getting a driver’s license under his brother’s name. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison, for forgery, and up to 10 years in prison, for wrongfully using identifying information of another person. Joe was released from prison on $50,000 bail.

This hasn’t been an easy couple of years for the Giudices. Joe was recently detained at a Dominican Republic airport, after a fight broke out in a DR hotel bar. Joe Giudice, as well as other cast mates, got in a physical fight, when Teresa was allegedly punched in the face after a bar patron was angered by her accidentally spraying champagne on his wife.

Teresa’s latest Facebook status update was on Thursday, at 3:19 p.m. She wrote, “Come see me at the XRSE store in Palisades Mall in West Nyack NY. on Saturday, April 2nd from 12PM – 3PM! xx.”

It’s been a day of celebrity children getting into trouble with drugs: First we posted about Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s cocaine use and then we found out Theodora Richards, Keith Richard‘s 25-year-old daughter was arrested for a double whammy of graffiti charges and marijuana possession. Man, is it possible to grow up with a famous parent and turn into a well-adjusted, drug-free adult? (Not that we’re making the claim that evidence of drug use necessarily turns people into trainwrecks, but you get the point.) Here are more than a few examples of why celebs should not be allowed to procreate, dammit.

Star Shrinking: Justin Bieber Headed For Arrest?

Has anyone registered the blog “Justin Bieber in Handcuffs” yet? The young singer recently got himself into major trouble by throwing water balloons at a pair of Maryland state troopers. Justin and some friends were goofing off before a show when they decided to soak the cops. The only problem? Well, that’s a felony — and Bieber’s bodyguard had to talk the officers out of arresting the teen idol.

So is this just an issue of “boys will be boys,” or is Justin’s behavior a sign of serious trouble? Celeb psychotherapist Dr. Gilda Carle talked with us about the young star’s behavior. Dr. Gilda described Justin as “a child who’s been thrown into the adult world of immediate gratification and instant success.” She added that he’s “not ready to handle this, obviously. He’s regressing to being a child again to prove to everybody how unready he is.”

In this light, Justin’s water balloon antics can be seen as a cry for help. Dr. Gilda called the incident “much needed playtime” for JB, who’s been working so hard lately he recently collapsed from exhaustion. Dr. Gilda feels Justin is overworked, after being “thrust into something he obviously wasn’t ready for.”

So what needs to happen next to save our young Bieber? Dr. Gilda believes Justin’s parents should come in and sent some boundaries for their son. “It’s a free for all now,” she said. “Wherever he goes everybody is wanting him. He’s forgotten what it is to get rejected and to have a bad day. And just to grow up.”

Ultimately most important for Justin? “The word ‘no,” Dr. Gilda explained. “No has got to come into play here.”

Rumor: More arrests in Lohan, Patridge burglaries

The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested at least four women in connection with the burglaries of Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge’s homes, a source close to the case told People Thursday.

The source also said one of the alleged suspects — Rachel J. Lee — is under investigation for the $2 million jewelry heist at Paris Hilton’s home last year and of possibly being the crime ringleader.

A LAPD spokesman has yet to confirm the arrests, however, People reported.

Patridge’s home was broken into on Feb. 23, while Lindsay’s home was burglarized on Aug. 23 with an estimated $128,000 in jewelry, designer clothes and accessories taken, People reported.

The crackdown follows the arrest in September of alleged suspect Nicholas Prugo, 18, who has been accused in both burglaries.
