Last night’s season premiere of American Idol brought legions of hopefuls out to Savannah, Georgia to try their skill in front of the judges. Because there were so many auditions, I’ve condensed my thoughts into the ancient, pithy, Japanese form known as haiku. How efficient is that?

Extreme Couponing is debuting on TLC soon. I’m the first to say that I love reality TV, and I watch Real Housewives, Jersey Shore, and Teen Mom like it’s my job (well, actually, that is part of my job). But for some reason, I can’t get into some of the reality shows that are out there right now. Like, Extreme Couponing? Really? I took it upon myself to venture onto the casting call section of TLC’s website. Some of these are funny and some are ridiculously boring. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried was fired from his job voicing the Aflac duck after he made insensitive comments about the Japanese earthquake on Twitter. Now, CNBC’s Jane Wells reports that some of comedy’s top names are auditioning to be his replacement. Among the contenders are Andrew Dice Clay (whose controversial career doesn’t really make him the best pick to replace someone who got fired for mouthing off), Richard Lewis, and Jeff Foxworthy (who is reportedly friends with the CEO of Aflac). I would pay money to watch a line of famous comedians come in and make duck noises.

A woman auditioning on Thailand’s Got Talent stunned the audience and judges alike when she sang in a woman’s voice and a man’s voice. I don’t understand Thai, but commenters on YouTube seem to think that the auditioner is transgendered. Either way, this performance is pretty cool to watch.

15-Year-Old Bieber Wannabes Can Now Audition For ‘American Idol’

Has Bieber-itis plagued even the American Idol producers? After 9 seasons of a 16-28 age eligibility Idol is now allowing 15-year-olds to audition for Season 10. As we noted, last season pretty much sucked, so any changes are welcome! With Simon Cowell off the show, the producers will really have to amp it up in a serious way if they want to bring Idol back to the glory of its early years.

With Bieber fever and all the going gaga for Greyson Chance, going young probably makes sense. We can just imagine a million kids with the Bieber cut showing up, which could potentially make the audition episodes particularly hilarious.

But should producers raise the age limit too? With surprise stars like Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent, maybe going older could be a good move as well.

Auditions start in July 17 in Nashville, and then head to Milwaukee, New Orleans, New Jersey, Austin and San Francisco.

Is 15 too young for stardom? Do you think this a good move for American Idol?

Chris Klein Busted For A DUI! Does This Mean No ‘Mamma Mia’?

UPDATE: There was a DOG in the car!!! Not cool, Chris. How about calling a designated driver? Has no one learned from Mel Gibson?!

Chris Klein was arrested in Los Angeles this morning on suspicion of DUI, reports TMZ.

Chris failed a sobriety test after cops stopped him on the freeway. This arrest happened just as the 31-year-old American Pie actor was staging a career comeback via viral video.

Does this mean Chris can say goodbye to his dreams of starring in Mamma Mia on Broadway? Joining Judd Apatow‘s merry band of stoners and weirdos? Can Chris BOUNCE BACK?

So this video of early 00′s teen star Chris Klein (American Pie, that one with Leelee Sobieski) auditioning for Mamma Mia is definitely some sort of funny, self-deprecating stunt, right? It’s just weird that the video was posted on YouTube and not FunnyOrDie or some other obvious site, and so far it’s only gotten around 400 views. But there’s no way this is actually leaked footage, right? Right??

Actually, kudos for still being attractive, Klein. Usually when teen stars drop out of the limelight, it’s because they didn’t age so well.
