Thank you, 4chan, for realizing that the release dates of the Batman movies match up with key points in Barack Obama‘s campaign trail. This is why I love the internet. More »
Canadian rapper Drake is perfecting his Obama impression, because he wants an acting role that’s not a basketball player or rapper. More »
While speaking at a fundraiser at Harlem’s Apollo Theater last night, President Obama couldn’t help but break into a bit of spontaneous song when he mentioned that the Reverend Al Green was in attendance. And the crowd went wild. More »
I don’t mean to be all “in my day…”, but libraries still exist! Even if Wikipedia joins in the Internet blackout initiative against SOPA tomorrow, kids can still read books to finish their term papers. More »
Damn you, Barack Obama. Just when I’m steeling my resolve to never vote for your ineffectual, conservative appeasing, barely progressive ass ever again, you come out with some more family photos turn my heart into a giant puddle of “aaaaaw.” And this time you’ve got Justin Bieber in on it. Just what exactly are you trying to pull, here?
I’m still pretty sure I’m going to vote for FDR as a write-in candidate in the upcoming presidential election, but here are the pictures. More »
Do you know how to play the popular college-dorm game Apples to Apples? Have you found that comparing global warming to the adjective “patriotic” gives you only a small chuckle, and what you really want to do is make dead baby jokes, say nasty things about celebrities, and poke fun at cute little animals? Then I’ve got the game for you, you sick f–k. More »

Thanks to the accessibility of Wikipedia, fans of celebrities can enter any minute detail of the stars’ lives into their biographies on the site. Including, it seems, their autographs. In the last week or two, I’ve started to notice that in addition to birthdate, marriages, years in the business, etc., savvy fans/Wiki editors have added stars’ signatures to the “quick facts” boxes on certain profiles. Last week’s discovery of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi‘s secret scrapbook of Condoleezza Rice got me thinking…is every despot motivated by intense feelings about some impossible love object? If so, might we somehow use this love to get them to stop doing terrible things? Maybe all Osama Bin Laden really needed was a hug from Whitney Houston. It was with this in mind that I compiled this list of evil dictators and my best guesses as to whom their secret crushes might be/have been. You know, for the good of humanity. More »
As you probably know by now, today is President Obama’s 50th birthday. Do you think he’s one of those people who gets sad on his birthday? He is going through a bit of a rough patch at work right now. To cheer him up (and/or make him even happier), I’ve assembled a gallery of gifts he has already received from life, from colleagues, and from us, the American people. He really is quite the lucky fellow. More »
Agree or disagree with his politics, you have to respect Barack Obama. Not only did his administration finally bring down Osama bin Laden — and create an Internet meme out of that triumph — but he also doesn’t mind being photographed doing random shit like enjoying a cool beer or laughing his ass off. Plus, he hobnobs with celebrities and reality stars. Happy birthday, Mr. President! We’re laughing with you, never at you. More »
We’ve been raving about Seth Meyers‘ terrific monologue at Saturday’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner left and right. The success of the event is a testament to Seth’s crew of super-stellar comedy writers,* one of whom is Chappelle’s Show co-creator Neal Brennan. Neal posted this video about getting to meet the Obamas at a cocktail reception (he greeted our President with a “Hey Man,” and now he’s on the No-Fly List) — and goodness is Barack Obama ever an awesome guy. Watch through to the end for a hilarious Jon Hamm-related payoff.
*We’re especially impressed with the female writers… juuust kidding, there weren’t any. More »
There were two huge news stories over the past few days – the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and the report that Osama bin Laden had been killed. So why not combine them somehow? More »
Trust the Internet to make a bevy of (great) visual jokes about Osama bin Laden‘s death last night, and how badass President Obama looks as a result. Four years ago, Fox News broadcasters were mixing up their names; now, no one will make that mistake again. (Except Fox News.) We’ve found the best memes that have sprung out of America’s momentary triumph over terrorism. More »
It’s a crazy world we live in, when news of the death of a terrorist enemy of the state responsible for the greatest tragedy in a nation’s history becomes a meme within a matter of minutes. So, Crying Dawson for president in 2012? More »
It’s been almost ten years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. In fact, May 1 was the eighth anniversary of George Bush‘s infamous “Mission Accomplished” speech.
But late Sunday night, it was President Barack Obama who got to announce to the world that Osama Bin Laden has been killed. That’s the kind of announcement that any president would like to present. Obama’s speech was moving and thoughtful and impressive.
And the TV crew decided to film him walking to and from the podium. That, combined with the subject matter, has made it the most badass speech of Obama’s presidency to date. More »
Last night, Saturday Night Live head writer/Weekend Update host Seth Meyers delivered a hilarious speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The WHCD (aka Nerd Prom) is the closest thing politicians get to a Friar’s Club Roast. Anyway, the New York Observer just posted this photo of the face President Obama made when Seth cracked a joke about Osama bin Laden. Considering that we just now learned that Obama was already aware that bin Laden was dead, this face is pretty much priceless. More »
