Found this hilarious visual on ONTD today: It turns out Paris Hilton set up a cabana with daybeds at her beach house in Malibu, only to forget the daybeds. They almost got washed away at high tide the next day… but I like our explanation — that the test results came back positive and they were heading to the surf to end their misery — better.

Also, this photo reminds me of the scene in The Parent Trap where the Lindsay Lohans push their dad’s evil girlfriend and her mattress into the river. Because I could totally see Paris becoming some blond bimbo who goes after Napa winemaker divorcees, can’t you?

Can’t Get To The Beach? 7 Alternative Fourth Of July Activities

Maybe you’ve been working too hard to plan a trip to the beach for the long weekend. Or, maybe you don’t know anyone whose pool you can crash and none of your friends has organized a BBQ. But like it or not, July 4th is here, and we have three full days ahead of us to fill with relaxing, catching up with friends and family and, hopefully, fireworks. But if you don’t have any of the traditional plans lined up (or you just want to do something to avoid the crowds, heat and cancer-causing sunshine) Crushable has some ideas.

Break out the red, white and blue
You might not be celebrating with a bikini and iced tea, but nothing makes you feel more patriotic than wearing the colors of our great nation. Dig through your wardrobe for a suitably annoyingly patriotic outfit and show your U.S. pride.

Take advantage of the sales
While everyone is soaking up the sunshine, head to the mall to take advantage of the free air conditioning and amazing seasonal sales most stores offer up on long holiday weekends. Bonus: if the weather is nice, chances are shopping crowds will be thinner.

Visit the parks in your area
Don’t live near a beach? Your town or nearby towns probably have some sort of outdoor space where you can grab a piece of shade and read a book. Grab a blanket, some friends and a thermos of drinks and make a day of it. Try to discover a park with a fountain or lake to dip your feet into, or where they’re hosting fireworks later that night. Get there early to avoid the crowds.

Catch up on local culture
You know that museum exhibit you’ve been dying to visit? Clear your schedule and hit the museums, galleries and restaurants you’ve been wanting to try this weekend. With some people out of town or at the pool, they’re bound to be less crowded than usual.

Pamper yourself
Get a mani-pedi, schedule a massage or take a yoga class you have been eying. If you have a few free hours, why not spend them on yourself?

Catch up with your DVR, movies
Sunshine? What sunshine? Close the blinds, grab a blanket and catch up on all those shows that have been weighing down your DVR for weeks. Or queue up those DVDs you have been meaning to watch, or head to the movie theater for a matinée showing of Eclipse.

Cook! And invite friends
If no one you know is having a Fourth of July BBQ, why not throw a dinner party of your own? Bring out those recipes you have been wanting to try, roll up your sleeves and invite all your free friends over to join. Try to highlight local and in-season ingredients, like sweet corn, tomatoes and berries.

Here are some more photos of Hilary Duff on her Hawaii vacation with Mike Comrie. I’ve yet to find any photos with Mike in them, so he stays well hidden. I’m also surprised the couple have managed to continue their vacation without more paparazzi photos. Good for them!!

It looks like Hilary had a great time in the water (though she does look cold!!)

Earlier this year the couple were spotted having a few days in the Bahamas.
