The awesome Elvis Costello has a new album coming out on June 2 called Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, produced by T Bone Burnett. He’s going on a mini-tour which will bring him to New York’s Beacon Theater for one night–June 10. He will be playing with the musicians who recorded the album with him, calling themselves The Sugarcanes.

Leonard Cohen will be playing at the restored Beacon Theatre which has been closed for some months, on February 19. Tickets go on presale tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon and regular sale on Friday at 9 am
Also coming up at the Beacon Theater is the annual stretch of Allman Brothers shows (“Peakin’ at the Beacon”) which will take place March 9-21. Tickets are on sale.

Friday night the Beacon Theater was a funkalicious place. The Budos Band, with its fifteen-or-so members started off the night right with their soulful grooves. Then, the Dap Kings took the stage and introduced Sharon Jones, who was dressed for the occasion in a sparkly, flirty dress.
