Real Housewives Dolls: 'She Grew A Penis'

It was Labor Day Weekend on Real Housewives last night, and there was no time for relaxation — just drama stirred up women who do nothing all day but plan charity galas, inject Botox and talk smack.

Basically, the episode was painfully glorious and had us on the edge of our discount tomato-red loveseat.

The Housewives were divided into two Labor Day camps: Those that chose to dine at Ramona and Mario’s Hamptons manse (Alex and Simon, Bethenny and Jason) and those that opted to hang out with the single and lonely Countess at her country home (Jill, Kelly and Jill’s husband Bobby). The claws were out and the talk was vicious. Jill hates former BFF Bethenny for saying she needed a hobby; Bethenny wonders why Jill can’t just be happy for her now that she’s in love with her new man. This is why Jill chickened out on going to Ramona’s for Labor Day (which was awkward enough as is). Jill used Countess’ beef with Ramona’s husband Mario as an excuse, and so she and Countess formed a Survivor-esque alliance against Ramona and Bethenny, dragging Kelly into their bitchy fold. Then again, Kelly can never resist a Bethenny hatefest (“She invented that margarita. She has issues.”)

Meanwhile, Alex and wannabe Housewife Simon were caught in the middle. Ramona freaked out because Alex/Simon wanted to party-hop over to Countess’ house, thereby indirectly sabotaging her soiree (and giving Countess that satisfaction). “Simon hasn’t seen Jill all weekend,” Alex argued. Not one to spark drama, Alex cowed to Jill’s diva demands and stayed at her party.

Countess and Jill were furious. IT’S WAR.

As Mario said over dinner, “They’ve drawn a line in the sand.”

And as Bethenny snarked, “The Countess, like, lost her husband and grew a penis.”

Some Hobby Suggestions For Jill Zarin

After last night’s Real Housewives of New York City, if we hear the phrase “Get a hobby” one more time, we may just drive our Skinny Girl Volkswagen convertible right off a cliff. In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap. Jill told LuAnn that she and Bethenny had not been speaking since Bethenny told her that she needed to “Get a hobby.” Later, Bethenny recounted the same story to her assistant, although she made clear that she thought it wasn’t that mean of a thing to say. Jill told the same story again while at lunch with Kelly and LuAnn. Clearly, she’s not going to be over it any time soon.

Although we love seeing our housewives lounging around doing nothing, Bethenny’s right — everyone could use a hobby. (We could probably benefit from having a few ourselves.) Jill seems like she’s already pretty busy, what with dealing with Bobby’s cancer and working in their store and writing a book that’s due out later this year, but we have some ideas for other hobbies she could squeeze in on the side:

Quilting
We’re sure there are lots of fabric patches lying around Zarin Fabrics, making this the perfect hobby for Jill.

Teach ice skating
The promos for the rest of the season show Jill skating around and, it turns out, girl can really skate. Why not put her skills to use and give back to the community by giving ice skating lessons at a spot around the city?

Interior decorating
Did you see what she did to her apartment last season? Jill has a gift.

Sorority den mother
When Ally goes off the college, this is the perfect way for Jill to stay close by.

Poll: Which NY Housewife Is On The Way Out?

The addition of two new housewives on Real Housewives of New York City means that the cast is reaching the dangerously high level of eight women. That’s just too much crazy for one show to contain (not to mention the fact that they’ll have to get bigger couches for their reunion show). So, we think that the new cast additions mean at least one — if not more — rich housewife is on the way out.

Attrition is nothing new on the Housewives series. Just look at Orange County; only one of the original group, Vicki, remains. And after recent rumors accusing her of kissing a teenager, we wonder how long she’ll stick around.

But the question of the moment is, who are the new New York housewives, Sonja and Jennifer, going to be supplanting on the show? Our money is on Bethenny, who is due to give birth to her first child soon and may want to spend more time with her growing family. Crazy thought, right? Another strong candidate for leaving the show is Jill, who has been focusing more on her own projects, like a book and non-profit work, during the show’s hiatus. Is it just us, or was she kind of less of a focus during the last season?

Alex may also be thinking of leaving the show. At Ramona’s viewing party last week, we asked Alex if she and Simon would ever consider having their own Gosselin-type reality show with their kids and she seemed receptive to the idea — as if something might already be in the works. Might the Brooklyn couple be leaving the show to launch something of their own? And with her etiquette book already out and her divorce final, LuAnn might be growing tired of the drama.

But there are two housewives we don’t think will be leaving any time soon: Kelly and Ramona. Both women love the spotlight and seem to have fun with the show, even when they’re feuding with their fellow cast mates. Still, we heard Kelly is part of some pretty big blow outs this season, so she might get fed up with the other women she’s forced to spend time with. Or, our intuition might be completely wrong.

Exclusive: The Two New NYC Housewives

Last night we hit a Real Housewives of New York City viewing party hosted by Ramona Singer. A few observations from the night: Bethenny is tiny, even at seven months pregnant, and the two new housewives — Sonja Morgan and Jennifer Gilbert — seem like promising additions to the already eclectic and outspoken cast.

Our predictions: Sonja will be the resident sex bomb and Jennifer will try to bring order to the squabbling socialites. But do we believe that her life is drama-free? Hardly.

Sonja, blonde, wrinkle-less and dressed in an up-to-there cheetah-print dress, talked to us about her obsession with yoga, dealing with her messy divorce and her relationships with the other Housewives. “I think New York Housewives set themselves apart from New Jersey and Atlanta in the fact that you can really only go so far with the fights. We have a little more to offer the audience,” she told us. “Once you punch someone out or throw a table, where do you go from there?”

“You’re going to see people really getting to know who they are and who their friends are, and really evolving. My favorite word is evolving, ” she went on. “Someone I’ve seen really evolve in my mind is Ramona. Since her dad died, she’s been getting in touch with her feelings and she’s just as passionate and outspoken, but in a different way. I’m also really good friends with LuAnn. She and I both recently went through divorces — mine terrible, her’s unfortunate. LuAnn’s really evolving, too. She’s handling it really well and she has her yoga and her spirituality.”

Sonja told us that to deal with her own divorce she has tapped into her own spirituality and gone on yoga retreats in upstate New York. “My exercise and just having my family, that’s how I get through it,” she said. “It’s hard.”

We met Jennifer in a quiet back room, which sort speaks to what she said she hoped to bring to the show: peace and order. The accomplished entrepreneur — she founded event planning company Save the Date in her 20’s — told us she was “normal,” so we asked her what the motivation for a normal woman would be to go on Real Housewives.

“Two things: one, I have a 16-year-old business, I’ve won Entrepreneur of the Year, I’ve won awards, I have a $30 million company, and I couldn’t buy this type of PR,” she told us. “I was brought on to be the event planner for one of the women — and I’m not allowed to say who — so I was brought in as a professional to do what I do. Second thing is, I feel personally motivated to change the world. I have three small children and I feel responsible to leave this planet better than when I came in. And if I can encourage change in any way, if I can reach five people to wake up and be kinder and gentler and nicer, then that means something to me.”

Jennifer told us she eventually wants to launch a non-profit foundation to effect change, and maybe Housewives will give her the platform she needs to achieve her dream. She’s also hoping to bring sanity to the current cast. “I sort of feel like there is no voice of reason on the show,” she said. “I always said I may get voted off the island because I don’t have drama, I don’t want drama, I try to defuse it. I’m a party planner, so I walk into chaos and I create order…That may be too boring for this show, but I owe it to myself.”

Exclusive: Ramona Previews Real Housewives

“I am, like, so good,” Ramona Singer tells Crushable. She is in high spirits because she’s gearing up for the HSN show featuring her newest jewelry line on March 2 — her one year anniversary at the shopping net — and the premiere of the latest season of Real Housewives of New York City March 4.

“It is going to be so insane,” Ramona said of the upcoming season of Housewives. “On the other shows, like New Jersey and Atlanta, they get physically abusive. We get verbally abusive. I just can’t wait to watch.”

“This season I think I’m more of the referee,” she went on. “I’m getting along with everyone. I’ll speak my mind, but I’ll still meet them for lunch. I’m still friendly with everyone.”

Even though she says she’s getting along with everyone, some of the clips that Bravo’s released show Ramona getting testy. Like this exchange between her and LuAnn that brought Ramona to tears:

“LuAnn was demanding that my husband apologize to her,” Ramona explained about the exchange that took place in the middle of a party she threw on a yacht. “We were at a polo match eight weeks earlier and he had said something about her like, ‘She’s Countless now.’ Then eight weeks later she brings this up and we’re on this yacht! If he did say it, that’s between him and her. It’s just annoying.”

Ramona also let us in on a few of the biggest fights in the upcoming season: keep an eye on Alex and Jill, she said. “There’s this exotic trip to the Virgin Islands that I take with the girls that is like total craziness,” Ramona said. “Kelly disintegrates. Basically, Kelly implodes.” Oh boy. We love when Kelly goes nuts. Remember last season’s blow up with Bethenny? Reveals Ramona: “There’s going to be a scene that’s going to make last season’s ‘I’m here and you’re down there’ look like playtime.”

We wanted to know, if the women are not all friends in real life, does Bravo make them hang out together for the sake of the show? “If you’re in a scene with the other women, it’s more likely to make it in the show,” Ramona said. “If you’re doing something by yourself, it will probably be edited out. It makes it a little interesting.”

Beyond the show, all Ramona wants to talk about is her jewelry line and her daughter, Avery. “I’ve always wanted to be on HSN and when I met with them they asked me, ‘What are you really passionate about?’” she explained. “I said jewelery because my husband is a fourth generation jeweler. I like to create these deco estate pieces that will last forever. They’re in style right now and will be in style in a few years and I can pass it down to Avery. It’s affordable, wearable jewelry that looks like it costs thousands but only costs hundreds. It’s all I wear now.”

And look for more of Avery on Housewives this season. “She’s 15 and she’s an adolescent, so she has very mixed feelings about it,” Ramona told us. “There was a photo of us in one of the magazines, and she said, ‘Mom, don’t think you’re famous now.’”

NY Fashion Week: Crushable Ladies In Red

New York Fashion Week kicked off last week, and we’ve been excited to see so many crushable ladies sitting runway-side and strutting and posing at the fashionable parties around town.

At one point, stars left their cozy front-row perches and worked the runway, giving the models a much-needed DJing-and-Coke Zero break.

Jordin Sparks, Raven, Kim Kardashian, Heidi Klum and a preggers Bethenny Frankel took turns down the catwalk as part of the Heart Truth’s 2010 Red Dress Collection runway show in Bryant Park.

Also making an appearance: Mamie Gummer, who has been making a name for herself beyond her famous mama Meryl Streep.
