Record Store Day is April 18

Record Store Day is a nationwide event created to support independently owned record stores. It happens on Saturday, April 18, 2009 this year. Naturally, NYC indie record shops are all celebrating. A list of participating stores is here. Some labels are releasing limited edition records that will be on sale that day. And of course, there will be live music as well, including Bouncing Souls, Bill Callahan, Jill Sobule, and Talib Kweli, to name a few.

Northside Festival Include Dodos, Sunset Rubdown, Motel Motel and More

A new NYC festival has been announced. It sounds similar to CMJ, but has a much narrower area focus: Williamsburg and Greenpoint in Brooklyn. The Northside Festival, produced by L Magazine, will take place June 11-14 and will encompass all or most of the shows happening in Williamsburg and Greenpoint during that time. U2 added a second date at Giants Stadium on September 25 (the 24th is sold out) for their 360˚ Tour. Tickets are on sale now.
