Taboo (real name: Jaime Gomez) is best known as “the guy in the Black Eyed Peas who isn’t Will.I.Am and kind of dresses like Neo from The Matrix.” So when a copy of his memoir, Fallin’ Up, landed on my desk, my immediate reaction was “Why?” But reading the book has given me some insight into who Taboo is and actually made me respect him. Video: Rihanna Kills It At The NBA Allstars Game
Rihanna‘s performance last night at the NBA Allstars game was amazing. For those of you who missed it, she played during halftime (with appearances by Drake and Kanye to boot), and you should watch now. RiRi and was dressed like a hot red headed Barbie, with a huge red ponytail and fringe shimmy skirt. Watching Rihanna move around the stage was probably worth the price of admission for many (as witnessed by the amazing gif above I found on Twitter). The Black Eyed Peas May Have Failed The Super Bowl, But Taboo Has The Best Gig Ever
If you listen to Twitter (and the small sample size from the party where I watched the Super Bowl last night), the Black Eyed Peas made a pretty dismal showing during halftime at America’s Most Important Sporting Event (aside from the Puppy Bowl). But considering that I handpick everyone I follow on Twitter, I thought it was a little premature to mark their performance as an utter failure. However! Now ESPN has done that for me.
Witness the above map of America. ESPN readers were permitted to rank the band’s show on a scale of A through F. But ESPN’s readers universally gave the Black Eyed Peas performance a failing mark.
Perhaps polling ESPN’s audience isn’t the most scientific way to gauge the success of a band who continues to dominate the pop charts. (Somebody – lots of somebodies – must like them for that to happen, right?) But surely, we can all agree on one thing: Black Eyed Peas bandmate Taboo has got the sweetest gig in the music industry. Okay Sesame Street, we get it. You’re a big boy now, and your guest-stars are hip and relevant! Neil Patrick Harris! Feist! Will.I.am! Wait…he’s not still relevant, is he? We mean, props for this not being a “Yes We Can” take off (we were worried when we saw the title was “What I Am”), but we’d rather have seen Fergie on the show, who could at least teach kids something useful, like how the letter M stands for “meth-face.”

How to Make the Black Eyed Peas Tolerable Again (Hint: Involves Deafness)
We may be a day late to this amazing video of a woman signing/dancing “My Humps” during a Black Eyed Peas concert, but seriously we watched this video two, three times, totally transfixed. Because sure, it’s one thing to go on-stage and sing while dancing, it’s another thing entirely to incorporate all of the words into your physical performance. Sorry Fergie, ya’ burnt.

Will.i.am Responds To Rumors Fergie Is Leaving Black Eyed Peas
Will.i.am says reports that Fergie is leaving Black Eyed Peas are greatly exaggerated. The rapper-producer tells Sirius XM Radio that he put the frontwoman on the spot this weekend, saying, “‘Hey, is it true that you’re leaving?’ She was like, ‘You’re a f–king idiot.’” Will.i.am adds, “We aren’t going anywhere. It’s a family.”

Everything’s fine in moderation — While out promoting her new fragrance, Outspoken, Fergie reveals that she’s okay with a little photo retouching from time to time. “If there’s a big roll of flab coming out somewhere that doesn’t look flattering, sure, I’d love that to be lessened, but I don’t like to look like a cartoon character, either.
