Christopher Gorham, who plays blind special ops agent Auggie on USA’s Covert Affairs, was a sweetheart who was game to talk about if Annie and Auggie will get together, his fake-crush on a former co-star, and how he gets to visit exotic cities even when his character can’t. More »
Bones could’ve gone the How I Met Your Mother route of hiding Emily Deschanel‘s pregnancy, but they decided on unsubtle—starting with the season 7 promo poster. More »
Rachel Uchitel just got married less than a week ago, so of course we’re hearing from David Boreanaz, who had an affair with Tiger Woods‘ one-time mistress. But what’s bizarre is that David claims that cheating on his wife Jaime Bergman was actually “a bonding experience, in the long run.” More »
You’ve probably seen the posters for CBS’ new Thursday-night sitcom How to Be a Gentleman: Johnny Drama/Kevin Dillon as the boor and a vaguely-familiar actor as the scared-looking prude. But even though he’s the less recognizable of the two, David Hornsby is the ultimate hyphenate: Actor, writer, producer, comedian. Here are five facts about how David went from babysitting to working on four shows at once. More »
Ben Savage might be dating Kristin Cavallari. He’s also appearing on Bones this season as a murder suspect who splits a lottery ticket with three other suspects. These could be totally unrelated — as in, the Bones set and the bar where he apparently met the reality star are both located in LA — or Cory Matthews could be planning a comeback! More »
You know those posters that say All I know about life, I learned in kindergarten? Well, all I know about sex, I learned from fan fiction. I was 12 when I first got into fandom, and about 14 when I started reading graphic fan fiction. I didn’t do so indiscriminately; Firefly had gotten cancelled after half a season, so I was struggling to prolong the stories through fanfiction. R-rated fiction happened to appear on every site I visited. To be honest, I was curious, and there was nothing stopping me except for an “Are you over 17?” pop-up that I could click with only a shadow of guilt. More »
David Boreanaz is 42 today, but we’ll always remember him as the 358-year-old vampire who took Buffy’s innocence. Or the snappy FBI agent with a penchant for gambling. Or as a possible serial killer. Reminisce on Boreanaz’s willingness to play even the darkest roles with a splash of wackiness, in our birthday video gallery. More »
Since I didn’t get to write a Fan Service for last week, this week will have two entries. Friday’s will hopefully be lighter, since today’s is about death — losing TV characters forever.
For the past few weeks, Bones showrunner Hart Hanson had hinted that in last Thursday’s episode (one before the season finale), a major player would die by sniper bullet. Cue the panicked reactions: Which actors had gigs lined up for next year? Which character could conceivably finish their time on the procedural after May 12? But Hanson and every Bones actor (even the non-regulars) were able to keep mum until Thursday’s episode. More »
Drawing from such classic procedurals as Law & Order, CSI, NCIS, and Murder, She Wrote, Alex Leo came up with this handy guide to guessing who the perp is in the first twenty minutes. Start with one of the middle four questions.
You know which show fits this perfectly? Bones! Every time I recognize an actor — and thanks to my childhood spent reading Entertainment Weekly, I recognize a lot of actors — I know that s/he did it. Every time… More »
The conceit for last night’s episode of Bones, “The Signs in the Silence,” was that the murder suspect is, in one character’s words, “a deaf mute.” The thirty-second promo with this piece of information drew ire from Deaf actress Marlee Matlin and other Deaf and hearing Twitter users, as “deaf mute” is a derogatory term in that it implies that Deaf people are incapabale of communicating. I’m a nerd, so I love seeing TV showrunners quibbling and commiserating over Twitter. Despite all the abuse as they get from the fans (like when Greg Yaitanes had House/Cuddy ‘shippers furious about the couple’s break-up), sometimes they’ll nag each other, as well. Case in point: Andrew Marlowe, who oversees Castle, recently called out Hart Hanson for keeping Brennan and Booth apart for seven years on Bones. More »
So I realized this morning that today is Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday — the day before Lent begins, where you get to stuff your face without reproach because you’ll be giving up those vices for the next 40 days. And when it comes to religious observances, art imitates life quite a bit. You’d be surprised at how many TV shows use food frenzy as a plot device, whether it’s slapstick with characters fighting over something tasty, or food as a destructive force. More »
For all three of your out there that are total Bone-heads (that’s what people who are obsessed with Fox’s forensic FBI show Bones call themselves, right?), here’s some great news: The David Boreanaz/Emily Deschanel dramedy may be getting its own series spin-off, starring the character “Walter ‘The Locator’ Sherman ‘a former soldier who suffered brain damage, and now asks inappropriate questions and has an uncanny ability to locate stuff.” Another show about an Asperger-y but brilliant forensic analyst/cop/doctor/psychologist? Well I’ll be damned! Here are five other shows that have almost the exact same synopsis with only one occupational difference. More »
Actually, let’s just change the name of this show to LOLZ: David Boreanaz‘s hit show Bones is trying to get Jersey Shore‘s The Situation to begin his acting career on their program. “We’re trying to get The Situation to play a murder victim,” (creator Hart) Hanson told reporters in a not-at-all stunt to drum up ratings, “A guido is killed and Booth and Brennan enter that world to find out what happens.” More »
