Ryan Philippe and his Stop-Loss costar Abbie Cornish broke up recently. Both of their publicists confirmed the breakup and that Abbie moved all her stuff out of the house they were sharing. The two reportedly hooked up while Ryan was still married to Oscar-winning ex Reese Witherspoon, with whom he has two kids. Not that we’re saying breakups are fun or anything, but this might be a good time to remember the old adage “if he cheats with you, he’ll cheat on you.”

Snarky but usually spot-on celebrity gossip blogger Entertainment Lawyer points out one unusual component of this celebrity breakup. Normally, when two celebs split, their publicists release identical statements using terms like “mutual,” “they remain friends,” and “they ask for privacy during this difficult time.” But Abbie and Ryan’s reps? Not so much. Entertainment Lawyer points out:

Ryan’s people said this, “Ryan ended the relationship with Abbie recently while she was in Australia and asked her to remove her things from his residence, which she did this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Abbie wanted to be make sure the world knew who really did the breaking up so her person said this, “Abbie ended the relationship with Ryan and she moved out of their home.”

You just know that if their reps are fighting about who ended the relationship it must have been a really bitter breakup which can only mean good things once one of them has to do a publicity tour and gets asked about it. Both of them will probably say some truly nasty things about the other which is what makes gossip extra juicy.

He makes an excellent point here. Most real battles in Hollywood aren’t fought between stars; they’re fought between stars’ publicists. And when each star’s representative is trying to get their message heard over the other one’s, you can be sure that something pretty sketchy went down.  I mean, otherwise, why would Ryan be willing to admit that he dumped his girlfriend while she was away in Australia? That doesn’t exactly make him look like a prince. If anything, it sounds like the work of someone doing major damage control.

Perhaps Abbie will go the Hilary Swank route and try to get herself on the cover of Vanity Fair if she agrees to spill about her breakup in an exclusive interview. After all, as the less famous half of the relationship, it’s even harder to get the press to care about your side unless you promise to trade juicy details for positive publicity.

Although Mischa Barton’s rep has not confirmed the story, I’m pretty sure we can believe now that Mischa did indeed dump Taylor. There is one source claiming to have talked to Mischa’s rep, confirming the breakup, and also saying that Mischa will be headed to London for Fashion Week then to Paris for a photo shoot.

According to InTouch Weekly, the couple ended their nearly 7-month relationship on September 5th. According to the insider, it was Mischa Barton who ended the relationship.

Mischa Barton & Rooney guitarist Taylor Locke had just come back from a 3-week safari and charity junket through Africa (hey, that explains a lot!!) and apparently that time together was to much for them.

“Mischa and Taylor’s romance worked because they spent so much time apart He’d be on tour or she’d be working in Europe and they talked over the phone or e-mail.”

According to the source, spending 24 hours a day with Taylor Locke was too much for Mischa. They fought nearly every day of the trip. Mischa is said to have dumped Taylor shortly after returning to LA.
