Broken Social Scene, Ringo Starr, Sharon Jones, The Specials and More On Sale
A lot of great variety of shows on sale today and tomorrow. Brit ska-band The Specials are back and on tour and stop at Terminal 5 on April 21, Sharon Jones is playing the Apollo and has a new album coming out, and Ringo Starr will grace us with his presence at Radio City Music Hall on July 7. The Decemberists, The Wrens, Kimya Dawson, and More On Sale
I never thought I would see the day…when The Wrens play a concert again. That and lots more tickets are on sale today:
The Wrens are playing a KEXP benefit with Titus Andronicus, Bell, and We Were Promised Jetpacks at Bowery Ballroom on March 13. Tickets go on sale today at noon.
The Decemberists are playing Radio City Music Hall on June 10. Tickets are on AMEX presale now, they go on regular sale on Friday at noon.

CMJ Schedule
CMJ starts next week and there is going to be a ton of stuff going on. You don’t need a badge to get into a lot of stuff, but you will need to buy tickets in advance for some. This is by no means a definitive list, but more a list of stuff I’m excited for!

CMJ Announces Initial Lineup
High Places @ Pitchfork Music Festival
CMJ, the annual music conference in New York akin to SXSW in Austin, has announced its initial lineup, which includes some previously announced shows. You can usually buy tickets to individual shows, or get a badge and hope to get in. If you register by August 19 you get 15% off the “all-access” badge (but sometimes the badge can’t get you in to certain shows anyway…). Here’s the lineup so far:

Beck, TV on the Radio, and BSS, Oh My!
Some pretty great tours have been announced recently and tickets are going on sale very soon.
Beck and MGMT will be at United Palace on October 9. A presale (PASSWORD = modern) starts Friday August 1st at 10:30am. Tickets are $49. (Thanks Brooklynvegan)
TV on the Radio, who I had sort of forgotten about, will be at Brooklyn Masonic Temple, which I has also sort of forgotten about, on October 14 and 15. Tickets go on sale Aug. 9 at noon.

Leslie Feist is blowing up. Her work with Broken Social Scene and her solo albums (including this year’s excellent The Reminder), have all led up to one thing: an iPod commercial featuring her catchy new single “1234.”
She’s gotten so huge that the New York Times has even jumped on the bandwagon. Music critic Jon Pareles will interview her during the “New York Times Arts and Leisure Week” on January 12, 2008. Tickets are on sale now.
