Camp Rock 2 follows Shane Gray and Mitchie Torres as they return to Camp Rock, only to discover that some of the students and instructors have abandoned it for nearby rival Camp Star.

Also joining the cast for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is popular hip-hop artist Matthew “Mdot” Finley. Mdot will play the reigning hot-shot singer across the lake at Camp Star who challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown. There’s even a romance moment between Nate and Dana, the daughter of Camp Star’s owner.

The sneak peek shows a bit of the film and the music video shoot for “It’s On.”

This sequel to the popular Camp Rock movie storyline follows Mitchie, Shane, Jason, Nate and their friends as they return to Camp Rock for another great summer of music and fun. However they soon learn that a new state-of-the-art music/performance camp, Camp Star, has opened across the lake and has lured away many of Camp Rock instructors and campers—putting the future of Camp Rock in jeopardy.

And when Camp Star’s hotshot performer, Luke Williams (Matthew Finley), challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown to see which camp really has the stronger musical talent, everyone prepares for the ultimate battle of the bands. Meanwhile, in a classic “Romeo and Juliet” twist, Nate falls for the daughter of the owner of the rival camp.

Demi Lovato just tweeted that today is the last day for filming on Camp Rock 2! She says, “I cannot believe today is the last day of filming for Camp Rock 2!!”

She also posted a little twitpic for everyone to see!

In other news, John Mayer reveals that Demi is going to be a huge star! “I think Demi has a huge career in front of her … depending on the decisions she makes in her life,” he explained to MTV. “And when you’re young and you’re a star, my thing for her is like, just keep writing, just keep working, just keep developing.“

In other news, Demi is hoping that her character, Mitchie, is funnier in Camp Rock 2. “I haven’t seen the script yet,” she told MTV News. “I know just as much as you do, and I don’t even know when I’m filming it other than this fall.”

Though Demi has no control over what will happen to her character, she does have a wish. “I’d like her to stay the same, maybe a little more true to herself. I guess funnier.”

“Alot of you have been asking if we we’re filming ‘Camp Rock 2′ yet. And sorry I didn’t get back to thoes comments, things where kinda busy around here. The answer is no. We won’t start filming until the end of the year, due to conflicting schedules. But don’t worry, it will be filmed! It should come out by summer of 2010. Yeah, sorry for the long wait lol. But I have a feeling that this movie will be better than the first!“

Demi Lovato made it on Entertainment Weekly’s Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2008! Demi rocketed to fame with the DCOM Camp Rock, followed by the release of her debut album, and she’s got plenty of projects in the works.

“Music comes naturally,” Demi told EW. “But acting is a mind challenge, and I have a huge passion for it.”

Demi has Camp Rock 2 in development, her film Princess Protection Program coming out next year, and she’s starring in the Disney show, Sonny With a Chance. Doesn’t look like she’ll be going anywhere soon!
