This episode should have been retitled “Dan and Blair Sit Around in an Airport and then a Hotel While Other People Wonder Where They Are,” but at least Blair stood up for herself and we now know the truth about Gossip Girl and the real Charlie Rhodes. More »
Our Gossip Girl recaps now include power rankings to keep you abreast of the social intrigues of the Upper West Side. Our favorites this week? Scheming Nate and drunk Blair! More »
Here’s the first trailer for What to Expect When You’re Expecting–we figure that with actually funny actors like Wendi McLendon-Covey and hot actors like Joe Manganiello, at least half of the plotlines will be worthwhile. More »
Before we start with this week’s review, I’d like to take a moment to applaud the renegade visionary who titles these episodes. I know it’s probably a team effort, but I prefer to imagine a single crazed genius locked in the dark confines of some Hollywood back lot, sitting at a bare desk in an empty room, surrounded by scraps of paper filled with his abandoned ideas. He’s focused, eyes screwed shut, sweat gathering at his brow, thick glasses fogged with the escaping heat from his overtaxed brain. Finally, with his deadline looming, he captures that elusive muse, that inspiration, and he cries out, “Eureka!” More »
CHUCK KEPT THE DOG!! Sorry, I probably shouldn’t lead with the emotional climax of this week’s episode, but it’s possible this moment changes Gossip Girl forever. More on that later.
The pot keeps bubbling in episode five. Dan decides to take credit for the embarrassing novel he’s been trying to kill, Blair reveals Louis to be her child’s father, Charlie finds a way to stay in the city, and Elizabeth Hurley may be the greatest threat to Gossip Girl since net neutrality. Now for the details: More »
Gossip Girl dreamboat Chace Crawford hit up the launch party for Calvin Klein’s new men’s fragrance called Shock last night. (Digging the hip fake graffiti, CK!) The event was held at a place called GunBar in NYC’s Meatpacking District, which is a terrible name for a venue if you ask me, but you did not. Chace was joined by other celebs like Joe Jonas and Sky Ferreira. More »
Joshua Friesen is a man in his 30s who’s obsessed with pop culture. This is how his brain processes Gossip Girl.
DAVID O. RUSSELL? Are you kidding me, Gossip Girl? Not six months ago, he was in a tux at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel hoping to collect an Oscar for directing “The Fighter.” Now he has a cameo on a CW soap opera? The only possible explanation here is blackmail. Remember, George Clooney once punched this guy in the jaw. O. Russell’s all over You Tube screaming at poor Lily Tomlin. By all accounts he’s a miserable human being. The producers must have something so terrible on him, something so heinous that he’s at their beck and call. Or he’s stopped taking himself so seriously and he’s just having a good time. It could go either way. More »
Hollywood typecasting makes it easier to audiences to figure out what a movie’s about without knowing anything about its plot — thanks to actors who play the same roles over and over again, trying to recapture lightning in a bottle. With each role, they run these characters into the ground until they’re the most bare-bones stereotypes.
It becomes shorthand: Sarah Jessica Parker is a highstrung, Type A businesswoman. Sandra Bullock is tough-as-nails and uses a breezy attitude to hide her secret insecurities. Penelope Cruz played the same role in both the Spanish and American Vanilla Sky movies, with the second an awful remake of what had been a fantastic performance the first time around.
Emma Roberts‘ good-girl muse Sally in The Art of Getting By could have been just a worse rehashing of her radiant character in Twelve, but the combination of director Gavin Wiesen‘s script and Roberts’ own know-how elevates Sally to a better version of what we’ve seen before. More »
Cannes is underway, and if you (like us) don’t have the luxury of hanging out in France to see the rough cuts of hot new movies and witness the bidding wars, our roundup is the next best thing. We’ve got the deets on which films are looking good and which have alrady flopped. This year there seems to be an interesting dichotomy between films that had great buzz: There were those that either met or exceeded expectations (and got some financial backing for their efforts), and then those that were well-done but highly disturbing in terms of subject matter. Dallas Cowboys quarterback (and Jessica Simpson‘s ex) Tony Romo is getting hitched! He and fiancee Candice Crawford are getting married on May 28 in Texas. But who is the striking blonde, and what do you need to know about her? More »
Terry Richardson took this photo and it’s titled “Chace Crawford at the Sotheby’s dinner.” Does that mean we can bid on Chase? Quick, search behind your couch cushions! He must be ours! More »
I used to date Bill Hader. He’s hilarious and everything, but ultimately we broke up because he realized that I was actually in love with his Saturday Night Live character, Stefon, and not with him. Though my relationship with Billfon only lasted a few minutes, those were a great couple of minutes. But I woke up to find that Billfon was gone and my actual boyfriend, who would be upset if I left him for Bill Hader but would probably want to come along if I left him for Stefon, was there. More »
In a rare display of diversity, Gossip Girl has hired a black actress to guest arc on the show. Tika Sumpter is set to play the character of Raina, the daughter of Bart Bass’s former associate. If these photos are any indication, she seems to have something going with Chace Crawford‘s Nate.

When it comes to dressing for Halloween, can you have any better style icons than the hipper-than-thou prep schoolers from Gossip Girl? It’s actually difficult to find pics of Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, and Blake Lively dressing up and trick-or-treating after 2008: Maybe that’s when the CW decided to put the kibosh on their golden calves going out in public dressed like slutty versions of something other than their own characters. Luckily, we managed to find a couple good ones from the first season of GG, as well as some pics of lesser-known characters playing dress-up. Note: Taylor Momsen is not in any of these shots because she treats every day like Halloween. More »
We suppose they can’t be decked out in micro minis and platforms all the time. The Gossip Girl cast was spotted on location in New York yesterday, bundled up in parkas and UGGs. Check out our gallery of Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford and Jessica Szohr hanging out before they’ve gotten camera-ready. More »
It’s reality imitating art for the Gossip Girl gang. Terry Richardson snapped some shots of the kids at a Fashion Week dinner for Chanel. Take a look at Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester and their cast mates hamming it up with Terry. XOXO! More »
Spotted: A hot new Gossip Girl hookup! Katie Cassidy - easily the best thing about CW’s meh Melrose Place update – was caught making out with Chace Crawford (aka Nate Archibald) on the set of the equally campy, far superior CW series. Katie is currently filming a multi-episode arc as a Columbia student and love interest for Nate, who’s fresh off a breakup from Serena Van der Woodsen. More »
When we think of the Teen Choice Awards, two words come to mind: “Levi” and “Johnston.” That’s right, Kathy Griffin took Wasilla’s bad-boy heartthrob as her date last year; now, fresh off a broken engagement from Bristol Palin, Levi returned to the 2010 ceremony with a new date: Brittani Senser, an R&B singer who cast him in the music video for her song “After Love.” Oh, but they weren’t the only hotties on the red carpet. Check out our Teen Choice gallery for a lovely Kardashian family portrait and Cory Monteith wearing inappropriate sunglasses (pre-awards Lasik?). More »
