Britney Spears’ “Circus” ranks 4th in top 20 tours of 2009

I keep checking out various “best of 2009″ lists (one of my favorite things in a new year is to reflect on the best stuff of the year before) and Britney Spears keeps showing up on most of them!

Most recently I learned that as far as tours go, Britney’s Circus tour was ranked 4th in the top 20 tours of 2009. As far as numbers go, the tour is said to have pulled in a whopping $82.5 million. Wow!

The Circus tour is in good company, ranking alongside U2 and Bruce Springsteen. She also beat out the popular Jonas Brothers who “only” (it’s still a lot!) made $69 million with their tour.

Congratulations Britney! I know I can’t wait to see what 2010 holds for her!

Britney Spears live in Australia

One thing I’ve noticed while Britney Spears has been touring Australia is that there have been surprisingly few photos of her performances. Back in the U.S. there were plenty where we got to see her costumes and the venue. However, over the weekend I came across a personal review which included some photos.

Although the photos are taken with an iPhone and from far away, I love them because we can see for ourselves that despite all the criticism over the lip syncing and the false claims that hordes of people were walking out, it’s clear that Britney was playing to a pretty full house – look how packed it is!

Please feel free to let me know if you have a personal review of one of Britney’s Circus shows that you’d like me to include!

Britney Spears live in Brisbane, Australia

Recently Britney Spears brought the Circus to Brisbane, Australia to the delight of her fans. Although the tour is slowly drawing closer to the end, people still seem to be enjoying the concerts and Britney is maintaining her energy.

I found some great video clips of Britney performing in Brisbane. Here she is doing “Everytime” and I swear, no matter how many times I see her do this song it still freaks me out to see her perched on that umbrella. With my fear of heights I don’t think I could get up there at all:

The next two videos were shot from the V.I.P. seating so we get to see Britney up close and personal. What amazing seats!

I love what Britney does for “Toxic”, the whole routine is awesome.

Britney Spears and Jason Trawick take the boys to “The Circus”

There are some new photos of Britney Spears, Jason Trawick, and her boys Jayden and Sean. The couple took they little one to The Circus. No, no, not the circus with wild animals and clowns to Britney‘s version of The Circus!

I love that Britney brings her sons to her shows sometimes. I don’t know if they make it all the way through each time. I’ve heard accounts that sometimes they fall asleep and are taken out, but it must be fun for them to get to see their mom up on stage. They’ll never really understand that she’s a big star because to them it will just be completely normal.

Britney Spears performs in Melbourne, Australia

On November 11th, Britney Spears performed in Melbourne, Australia and despite criticism for lip syncing in some of the media it seems that fans had an incredible time! Check out Britney performing “Circus”:

The screaming certainly indicates that people were having a great time! Another clip below the cut!

I also found this great clip of Britney performing “Radar””

Britney’s looking pretty hot in that black bikini and high-heeled boots! The video’s also really clear which is great.

As far as anti-lip sync backlash goes, Britney briefly addressed the issue by saying, “I came to Australia for my fans. Some reporters have said they love it and some don’t.” I found a review of Britney’s Melbourne show and it’s clear that not everyone is upset with Britney. Reporter Paul Cashmere wrote:

At the Britney Spears show tonight at Rod Laver Arena, there were no mass walk-outs, there were no disgruntled fans and the audience was genuinely entertained. [...] In Vegas, this show would be up for “show of the year”. In Perth, based on a one-woman jury, it doesn’t rate at all. Melbourne, the home of Australian theatre, accepted another good show.

He also really blasted reporter Rebekah Devlin – who originally trashed Britney for not singing live – in a wonderfully snarky way.

Britney Spears performs first Australian show in Perth

On Friday night, Perth, Australia got to finally share in the excitement of Britney Spears performing her Circus Tour. Britney took over the Burswood Dome for her own three-ring circus and it looks like the entire show was pretty high-energy.

Here’s Britney performing “Toxic” – unlike many video cameras in large venues, this one seems to have picked up the sound pretty well without much distortion.

This concert-goer put together a bit of “Circus” and “Piece of Me”.

In the comments someone had this to say about the Circus show in Perth:

was AMAZING, worth the $200 i paid for. She didnt sing 3, she played the exact set list as usual, was AMAZING and made FULL use of the stage!! PLUS she addressed the audience!!!! she said WAssup Perth, You have a beautiful country” As far as i was concerned the effort she put in was phenomonal, and it didnt matter she didnt sing live coz the show would not have been as spectacular!!

Someone else also added that the Dome was pretty much full. Sounds like Australia is very eager to see Britney Spears up on stage!

I can’t wait to see the rest of the clips!

Photos of Britney Spears arriving in Australia

We already knew yesterday that Britney Spears arrived safely in Australia but now some photos have surfaced as well.

Britney made it to Perth in West Australia but it took her about 23 hours to fly there! Wow! Although Britney flew in with her dad, Jamie Spears, Kevin Federline will bring Jayden James and Sean Preston to the country as soon as he’s done with a segment of his reality show. As a parent I’d just like to say how happy I am that it’s not ME flying 23 hours with two young children.

No word on whether boyfriend Jason Trawick will join Britney in Australia as well. I hope so!

Even though she must have been pretty tired, Britney looked to be in good spirits in these photos – it must be because of her excitement about performing in Australia for the first time! It’s just too bad she didn’t have a bit more time before her first show because I’ll bet she’d like to shake off the extreme jet lag a bit first!

Britney Spears jets off to Australia!

Britney Spears was seen at the airport in Los Angeles Monday night, looking a little bit tired as she passed through security and got ready to board a flight.

She could have been going anywhere but Britney posted to Twitter, saying:

Jumping on V Australia. This plane is awesome! I’ll be down under tomorrow. Can’t wait! -Britney

Time goes so fast! We’ve been able to see Britney relaxing with her sons and Jason Trawick, just enjoying herself, and it’s hard to believe it’s already time for her to resume her Circus tour!

I hope Australia is ready for Britney’s show, they’re going to have a blast!

Britney Spears does random drug tests on her tour-mates

If you want to tour with Britney Spears you’d better be clean – and I don’t mean clean in the hygiene sense (though I’m sure that helps too). Allegedly, Britney orders random drug tests on her dancers as well as anyone else affiliated with her tour.

All that smoke is NOT from pot!

According to the source, Britney takes it very seriously when it comes to being completely clean on tour:

“Britney’s rule is clear – zero tolerance. No drink. No drugs. If you do not comply, you do not tour with Britney.”

I’m surprised by the alcohol factor. I mean, having a full-on raging alcoholic on stage would be a serious loose canon but I would have thought there wouldn’t be any problem with a beer or a glass of wine after a show as long as it isn’t having a negative effect on the show.

However, I completely agree with her zero tolerance on drugs. Britney had a really rough time when she was out of control and she’s worked hard to get herself back up to the top again. I think it makes good business sense that she would protect herself and her brand by not having any association with people who are drug users. Apparently Britney has fired several dancers in the past for that very reason, so I think it’s a good idea for anyone involved in her tour to be careful and follow her rules!

Britney Spears – Final American Circus show in Las Vegas

Sunday night, at the Mandalay Bay Theater in Las Vegas, Britney Spears officially closed down the North American leg of her amazing Circus Tour. Earlier in the day she had been busy enjoying quality time with her boys, but once she got up on stage she was all business.

Britney put on a 90-minute show for fans in Las Vegas which included everyday people like you and me, and some bigger names like Barry Manilow and Lance Bass.

In fact, Lance became a part of the show as Britney brought him onstage to perform a lap dance during the song “Breathe on Me” – Lance sang along with her, clearly having a great time.

Britney will get a bit of time to relax before heading to Australia in November for a number of shows there.
