Music festival season is well underway, and the latest offering was Lollapalooza in Chicago. Check out photos of acts like The Pretty Reckless and The Kills doing their thing from the stage. And yes, we assure you Taylor Momsen‘s wearing something ridiculous. More »
A few days ago a friend texted to ask if I wanted to see WILD FLAG and Superchunk open for Bright Eyes at Radio City Music Hall. My response was a “hellz yeah” sent rapid-fire, for which I was heartily mocked. I bring this up because it exemplifies that I am a person who uses the tools of teenagers. I’m six years removed from qualifying as a member of their hormonal ranks, but I say “OMG” unironically and I’ll occasionally reach into a pocket for my Chapstick or a Klonopin and pull out a brontosaurus-shaped Silly Band instead; hell, I write a feature called The Daily Bieber for goodness’ sake! I should also mention that when I was an actual teenager I harbored a secret fantasy of meeting, seducing and shotgun-marrying Conor Oberst, aka Bright Eyes. More »
Hey, remember how Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes held a rally in Nebraska against Arizona’s anti-immigration bill? Well, it happened, though unless you are a big Ober-head, you may have missed that blip because whoops, you’re in Nebraska (which, to be fair, has passed a similar bill and no one cared because no immigrants go to Nebraska).
ANYWHOOZLE: Here’s the “Coyote Song” he wrote about it and performed at his Concert for Equality! It’s not bad, but if he’s still… More »
Remember Bright Eyes? Of course you do. That’s your favorite band, ever. You were into Conor Oberst before he released Lifted and got super popular. You are even into his side projects like Desparecidos, and the BE album Cassadaga about his time in a spiritual Florida town that Johnny Depp called one of his “favorite things” about 2007 (thanks Wikipedia!).
Anyway, if you love Conor Oberst but also live in Arizona and feel strongly that immigrants need to be kept out,… More »

The men looked super snazzy in their dark suits and skinny ties, and played for about 3 hours with no opener–quite a skill in itself. They had with them drummer Will… More »

Jenny Lewis Playing with Rilo Kiley in June 2008 at Terminal 5
According to Brooklynvegan, this year’s free July 4 outdoor concert at Battery Park will feature Conor Oberst. Jenny Lewis will open. “This year this event is not ticketed, but space is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.” How do you think it will compare to last year’s show with Sonic Youth and The Feelies?
