Fans of Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert? If so, you might want to check out their interview on the Walmart Soundcheck site starting November 1, 2009. I’m not completely sure why none of them is performing but I am interested in seeing the full interview. If you like this sort of thing, check out Carrie Underwood’s Walmart Soundcheck performances. She’s great, of course! In the meantime, check out this preview of Kris, Allison… More »
It’s been a few days since Katharine McPhee’s video for her new single “Had it All” hit the internet and I’d love to know what you think of it. I know that she wants to set herself apart so she chopped off those gorgeous brown locks of hers and has opted for a short, blonde hairdo and I’ve got to say that I don’t really love it. It feels like she’s trying too hard but, then again,… More »
For those of you who have been anxiously waiting, the wait is now over! David Archuleta’s holiday album Christmas From the Heart is now available. I know a lot of you had it pre-ordered (some of you even had multiple copies set aside) If you haven’t already secured your copy it’s not too late. Buy it now so that you can enjoy David’s voice all through the holiday season. I know that’s what I’m going to do!… More »
Kellie Pickler is very comfortable being a country singer and isn’t planning on making her music more pop-friendly in the near future. Nor is she going to release dance remixes.
“I love country — that’s what I grew up listening to,” said Pickler. “As long as I’m played on country radio, I don’t care if any other stations play my music or not. If they want to play my music, that’s fine. But I’m not changing it for them. I don’t… More »
Have you had a chance to listen to Blake Lewis’ new album, Heartbreak on Vinyl? If you haven’t, you definitely need to check it out (it’s out today! Buy it on Amazon or iTunes!). It’s a lot closer to what you would expect from Blake than the music he released on Audio Day Dream and I really can’t say enough about how happy I am for him. I had the opportunity to chat with Blake this morning. Here’s… More »
You might remember Kristy Lee Cook as the horseback riding beauty on American Idol a couple seasons ago but you may not know that she’s now the host of the new Outdoor Channel show Outdoor’s 10 Best. The show “will showcase some of the most heart-stopping outdoor footage and trusted opinions from the world’s most knowledgeable experts in the industry.” How did she get picked? Producer Kevin Fay explains: “She has a deep passion for hunting and horseback riding. … More »
Have you ever had your wisdom teeth pulled? If so, you can probably relate to David Archuleta’s nerves about the whole procedure. My own extraction was pretty awful (it took 3 hours!) and I was swollen for days so I hope Archie fares better than I did, although I’m sure there’s a ton of you who wouldn’t mind taking care of him while he heals! Poor David has needed to have them out for a while now but his… More »
A little while ago, I asked if any of you would be buying David Archuleta’s upcoming Christmas From the Heart album and every single one of you said yes! I’m not surprised, therefore, that it’s already at the top of the Amazon holiday charts! The album features some traditional songs, including what’s sure to be an incredible duet with Charice Pempengco, as well as the original song, “Melodies of Christmas” which David wrote with his father Jeff and two… More »
David Archuleta took home the “New Artist Award” at the 2009 Alma Awards last week and he performed this acoustic version of “Contigo En La Distancia” and it was absolutely, unequivocally beautiful. If you can listen to this and not believe that David is incredibly talented you must be deaf. Even if you don’t like his style, you gotta admit that this kid has got some pipes!
Of course, he also looked so adorable! He’s gotten so good at conveying emotion… More »
Former American Idol contestant, Constantine Maroulis, performed at the 2009 U.S. Open over the weekend. He sang “God Bless America” and, like David Archuleta’s performance of “America the Beautiful,” I thought it was a solid and reverent delivery of this incredibly patriotic song. Have a listen and let me know what you think: … More »
Former American Idol contestant, Kimberly Locke, is on today’s episode of The Tyra Show, where she will discuss what it was like for her growing up as a biracial person. She even tells Tyra that a teacher singled her out because of her skin tone in front of all of her classmates. I’m biracial and I’ve always loved it but I guess how you feel about it depends on your own individual experience so this is a very interesting… More »
The U.S. Open is about to wrap up and, since I write about tennis, I was super surprised and excited to see David Archuleta performing “America the Beautiful” before the women’s final match between Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Clijsters (Clisjters ended up winning).
Archie sounded a little nervous at first but he quickly turned on the magic and his gorgeous voice shone through. The crowd cheered when he was joined by the United States Marine Corps 6th Communications Battalion. It was… More »
It’s no secret that American Idol alum, Kellie Pickler, and Taylor Swift are very close friends. They’ve written songs together, toured together and are spotted hanging out all the time so I wasn’t surprised when Kellie showed her frustration of Kanye West stealing what should have been an amazing moment from Taylor at the 2009 MTV Video Awards last night. Kellie tweeted, "Tator Tot, you handled yourself with Grace. Kanye, go grow some f-ing balls, bi—! don’t mess w/my… More »
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that David Archuleta is releasing a holiday album called Christmas From the Heart on October 13, 2009 and I’m curious to know how many of you will buy it. I think that too many celebrities come out with Christmas albums and most of them have no business trying to sing those classics in the first place. I feel totally different about David. I love his voice and I… More »
Oprah Winfrey is getting ready to launch the 24th season of her daytime talk show and she’s asked fellow Chicago native, Jennifer Hudson, to help celebrate. I’m not completely sure (please correct me if I’m wrong) but I think this is Jennifer’s first performance since the birth of her son, David, almost a month ago. The party is taking place on the Magnificent Mile (are you surprised? This is Oprah!) with Jennifer slated to… More »
I always associate the Jerry Lewis Telethon with the Labor Day weekend so I was happy to see a couple familiar faces on the program encouraging viewers to give money to cure Muscular Dystrophy. Ace Young (Season 5) co-hosted the event and then graced the stage with performances of “It Had To Be You” (one of my favorites since I used it for my first dance at my wedding!) and “Come Together.” It was a sweet and classy… More »
Blake Lewis’ album Heartbreak on Vinyl comes out on October 6, 2009 but the second single (the title track) hit the internet a couple days ago. It’s definitely got an 80s sound mixed with a modern dance vibe and, while I love the American Idol Season 6 runner-up, I don’t particularly like this song and I am borderline obsessed with 80s music.
I don’t know what it is but it just doesn’t sound well mixed and I think the lyrics are… More »
Former American Idol finalist, Kellie Pickler, was on the Today show where she talked about touring with her best friend, Taylor Swift, and how they wrote her hit single “Best Days of Your Life” on the tour bus after Kellie started ranting and venting about guy trouble. Kellie also discussed her charitable work with Soles for Souls which is an organization that provides shoes to children in need. She explained that it was something that was important to her… More »
First of all, what do you think of Katharine McPhee’s new look? Is she rockin’ the blonde hair or not? You tell me! I kinda like it but I also don’t want her to go too far reinventing herself, you know? I have to say that it reminds me a little bit of what Geena Davis looked like in The Long Kiss Goodnight. Anyone else seeing that? Anyway, I spotted this video and thought I’d share. She talked a… More »
David Archuleta recently performed in Omaha, Nebraska and I spotted these great pictures for you Archie fans! I haven’t been lucky enough to see him live in concert since the only events I’ve attended were for the press and he wasn’t performing but it looks like he’s really opened up on stage. Truly, I believe that if he had possessed this kind of stage presence, he really might have won. No disrespect to David Cook, of course, because we love… More »
