K.D. Lang Dissolves Her Domestic Partnership

Sad news (or happy news if you want to date her): bad ass country singer and contender for America’s second most famous lesbian k.d. lang has split from her partner of nine years, Jamie Price, filing documents to dissolve their domestic partnership. According to TMZ, the pair met in 2003 through their mutual Buddhism teacher, then “subsequently filed for domestic partnership in California,” because that is what lesbians do on the second date. (Kidding!)

Although they don’t afford all the same rights as marriage, domestic partnerships in California provide some marriage-like rights, including community property, hospital visitation, and jail visits if one partner gets in trouble with the law. It’s somewhat surprising that Lang decided to split with Price when relatively recent interviews painted a nice picture of their life together as private, low key, and full of yoga and vegetarian food, but then again, we have no idea what problems they may have had, as their life was, like I said, private. I hope k.d. is doing okay, but if not, she should take comfort in the fact that there are lesbians all over America (and probably some straight ladies, too) who’d be happy to lend her a bosom to cry on, if you know what I mean.

God, it must have been so embarrassing when Gwyneth Paltrow realized that being married to rock musician Chris Martin didn’t somehow magically transferred his powers of crooning to her, after she had already signed on to star in a terrible musical. It must have be doubly embarrassing when that movie, Duets, tanked.
So it’s really weird that Miss Goop has decided to give it another go as a country singer in her upcoming film, the aptly titled Country Song, for which she has just released the first music video.

I’m not a huge fan of country music, but they deserve better than a bourgeois Gorgonzola-munching princess thinking it’s cute to try out their funny little ditties in between trips to Venice and giving her children names they will grow to hate her for.

Sebastian Bach on “Gone Country”

Sebastian Bach is appearing on a CMT reality show called Gone Country. It’s the second season of the reality series that headlines as CMTs most highly rated series ever.

Gone Country follows a cast of characters competing in the series for a chance at country music success. 7 celebrities immerse themselves in all things country and, with the guidance of Nashville hitmaker John Rich, one will have the chance to become a country music star.

The seven celebrities this season are: Sebastian Bach, Mikalah Gordon, Sean Young, Lorenzo Lamas, Jermaine Jackson, and Chris Kirkpatrick.

Sebastian Bach, although known to us from Gilmore Girls, is a heavy metal singer. He was the front-man for Skid Row until 1996 when Sebastian left the group to perform on Broadway and to pursue his career as a solo artist.

Gone Country 2 airs on CMT on Fridays at 8pm. It premiered this season on August 15th, so it’s really just started!
