We’ve never given much thought to Moaning Myrtle, the cranky ghost who helped Harry out in Chamber of Secrets and Goblet of Fire. But this photo on Tumblr is so true: She really does look like Daniel Radcliffe in a wig! After the jump, find the amazing Photoshopped response from another Potterhead. More »
No, we can’t take credit for this cheeky commentary on the Harry Potter series; it was Global Comment who came up with this fake tribute for the alternate universe in which Joanne Rowling (not having to hide behind her initials) introduced the world to young, motivated witch Hermione Granger and her sidekicks Harry and Ron. And what a different world it is… More »
In 1776, the Second Continental Congress issued a declaration–a “Declaration of Independence,” one might even call it–that severed all of America’s ties to Great Britain and made everyone, well, very, very angry. Brazen to a fault, it sealed the fate of the thirteen colonies, throwing them into grisly battle with the mighty British Empire. In this case, as we all know, the dark horse triumphed and, in due time, the United States emerged as a super power, with Great Britain as its most trusted ally. Unfortunately, that alliance was shattered into tiny little bits with this summer’s big movie premieres of the faintly English Harry Potter And The Death Hallows Part II and America’s aptly titled Captain America: The First Avenger. Is there a person in the world with a better grin than Daniel Radcliffe? No wonder Voldemort found himself unable to hurt a baby Harry Potter — he was just too smiley and adorable. Here’s a bunch of photos of Daniel working his smile. Enjoy! More »
Before Daniel Radcliffe stepped onstage forĀ Live with Regis and Kelly this morning, the hosts showed a clip of his first appearance in 2001, where he was an adorable pipsqueak shaking his head in disbelief that he’d just seen The Producers. Ten years later, he’s had two successful Broadway appearances in Equus and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying – and it’s fitting that they showed that clip, since he revealed that the souvenir he nabbed from the set was two pairs of Harry’s signature glasses. Guys, our Harry Potter kids are all grown up! They’re adults with facial hair and drinking problems now! But we still remember when they were the cute, innocent children who captured our hearts (with magic and loose teeth). We created morphs of five HP actors, aging them from the time of the first flick to the present. Check them out:

Perhaps calling them “kids” is inaccurate, as most of them are in their twenties now, but let’s face it: We watched them grow up on screen, and because of that we’ll always think of them as “The Harry Potter Kids.” They’ve spent the past ten years– which, for some of them, is nearly half their lives– working on these epic films, and now that the release of the final film is less than a week away, I can’t help but wonder what’s next for these not-quite-kids. Some of them may continue to act; some of them may follow other pursuits while staying in the spotlight; and some of them may choose never to act again. Here are our predictions about what life after Potter holds for Daniel Radcliffe and company. Got other ideas? Tell us about them in the comments! More »

Way to get us all emotional again, Empire Online. First it was the open letter that Alan Rickman published in the site’s April magazine, and now this video with stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint (adorably tongue-tied), Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Tom Felton, Robbie Coltrane, David Thewlis, and others offering up one word for the experience of making these new classics. Like the sobering image above, these character posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (out July 15) proclaim “It All Ends” and give hints as to who will come out on top in the final battle. Check out Harry, Neville, Voldemort, and others. More »
All awards shows can be problematic. The Oscars, the Emmys, the Tonys… no matter what the medium, the politics involved often determine who gets nominated and who wins more than the art itself. It’s true that the Tonys usually aren’t quite as bad as, say, the Oscars can be, largely because Broadway is a little more of a niche world than Hollywood; but snubs still happen, though, and this year, there are some pretty spectacular ones in terms of high-profile celebrities getting zilch for their efforts. There were plenty of famous faces in the crowd at the royal wedding, including Victoria and David Beckham, Elton John, and even Mr. Bean himself, Rowan Atkinson. But some celebs didn’t take part in the festivities, and others lashed out about not getting invited. More »
One of the more aww-inducing stories from last week was that Emma Watson left Brown University because her classmates would shout, “Three points for Gryffindor!” when she got the right answer in a seminar. Considering that her Harry Potter alter ego Hermione also got flak for being a smartie, it wasn’t such a ludicrous rumor.
However, Watson just released a statement on her website saying that no one ever bullied her and politely telling the media to lay off the speculation on what she’ll be doing in the fall. More »
