Channel Guide Magazine did an interview with some of the “Camp Rock” stars and they talked about their characters and details about the plot of the movie. Thanks to oceanUp for this awesome find!

BTW – it IS true that the kiss between Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas isn’t in the movie! Demi says it’s possibly in the outtakes.

How was it determined you got the lead role? Joe Jonas: ‘It was determined through an auditioning process. I auditioned first for the role of Shane. They worked the movie to work better as a band because, as you know, it’s different for us to work maybe alone, so we wanted to keep it together, of course. It’s very cool to be Connect Three in the movie.’

Read the rest of the interview below the cut. What was the message of Camp Rock? Joe: ‘It’s a really amazing message that all kids can relate to. Everyone, I think, goes to camp or something like camp or even like school, where you realize how you are trying to fit in with the cool crowd. I know I did when I was growing up. Even at camp, I definitely wanted to hang out with the cool kids. The movie shows you can be who you are. You can hang out with the friends you are comfortable with.’ Kevin Jonas: ‘For us, it’s about staying true to who you are as a person. Never giving in to that.’ What can you relate to about the theme of this movie?

Demi: ‘The theme of the movie is to be yourself and not worry about being popular. That’s what I had to worry about in middle school. I was always worried about being popular. Wow, if I had a chance to do it over again, I’d so rather be a nerd than be popular, it’s so much less stressful and you can be yourself.’

Tell us about the character of Tess?

Meaghan Jette Martin: ‘I’m the meanie. I’m pretty bad. I’m kind of afraid people won’t like me after the movie. Demi’s character wants to be my friend, because my character is the popular girl, so she lies because she wants to become a part of my group. I find out she’s lying and I, basically, bring her down.’

We were sure that we’d see a kiss between Mitchie (Demi) and Shane (Joe), what happened? Joe: ‘You know, it was so funny. It was rumored that there was a kiss in the movie, but there’s no kiss. Demi does a great job. I definitely did practice my acting, not so much a kiss, but definitely the acting because it was so different for us.’

Demi: ‘I don’t know, you’ll have to find out. Maybe there’s outtakes.’

How have your siblings and friends reacted to your role? Meaghan: Oh, they don’t care [referring to her siblings]. I still live in Vegas. It’s been hard though; a lot of people who never were really all that nice to me before, all of a sudden want to be my best friend. So it’s been a little difficult to make sure everyone has the right intentions. My best friends, of course, are totally normal about it. They just like the fact that they can go to Jonas concerts and get good seats.’

Camp Rock, Camp Rock, Camp Rock….we sure are hearing a lot about this movie aren’t we?!? It still seems so far away when we actually do get to see it, but someone has already done a remix of the song “We Rock”. I think it sounds pretty cool, how about you?
