Don’t worry, it’s not because they feel bad about the people who’ve died or anything. More »
The Real World created the genre of voyeurism-as-entertainment and Big Brother took it to its logical extreme — but I would argue there’s never been a television program more sickeningly voyeuristic than Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The behind-the-scenes look at addiction and recovery boasts five seasons and a spin-off, Sober House, and last night VH1 premiered its new offering in the franchise, Celebrity Rehab Revisited. More »
Can you believe next week is the season finale of 16 and Pregnant? There will be only ten total episodes this season, and then Teen Mom is back on July 5. So last night we got a double feature: Taylor Lumas‘ episode, and then a special 40-minute “Unseen Moments Special” hosted by – of course – Dr. Drew Pinsky. I tend to think that these missing clips shows are determined in part by viewer feedback or aim to answer questions people have asked about the show, and this episode definitely validates that. But mostly it shows clips of Izabella, Taylor, and the girl from next week who we haven’t even met yet. More »
Yesterday, Loveline hosts Dr. Drew — also famous for his time counseling addicted stars on Celebrity Rehab — and “Psycho” Mike Catherwood took to Reddit to do an AMA thread. They were the first celebrity AMA participants since the Emilia Clarke thread was revealed to be a hoax last week, and surprisingly they suffered no repercussions for that fakery. (Probably because they immediately verified their identities with this photo on the left.) More »
Although MTV isn’t airing the Teen Mom 2 reunion until next week, there’s a sneak preview clip up on their site. In the clip, a newly blonde Chelsea Houska sits between dad Randy Houska and ex-boyfriend/baby daddy Adam Lind on Dr. Drew Pinsky‘s couch. As usual, Chelsea lets Randy and Adam have it out while she just sits there crying and complaining about being stuck in the middle. More »
Dr. Drew Pinsky has never met a media outlet he didn’t like. He never misses a chance to go on TV pontificating about the real or hypothetical addictions of celebrities. He has weighed in on everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Angelina Jolie, so the only question about his upcoming special Vh1 News Presents: Charlie Sheen: Winning … Or Losing It? should be “How did it take this long?” (Okay, maybe one more question, which is “Why does anyone ever think double colons are a good idea?) Dr. Drew Pinsky must be thanking his lucky stars that he was able to scrounge up Jeremy London for his almost-axed Celebrity Rehab (“Not enough C-listers” is the world’s saddest excuse, btw). But one name isn’t enough, so that’s why today’s announcement that Janice Dickinson may join the cast doesn’t come as that much of a surprise.
Janice, last seen on the Finnish version of America’s Next Top Model after she was axed as a judge from the American version -… More »
Dr. Drew Pinsky has said some pretty harsh stuff about current SCRAM bracelet model Lindsay Lohan, like that if he was her father, he’d plant drugs on her to get her arrested and into treatment. (Don’t give Michael Lohan any ideas there, pal.) And Lindsay naturally hasn’t taken too kindly to a guy who trash-talks her with one side of his mouth while trying to woo her into his Celebrity Rehab program with the other. You know, for her sake,… More »
The Hollywood Reporter recently gathered a motley crew of reality show producers and stars to discuss the ins and outs of reality TV. Most interesting: Jersey Shore producer SallyAnn Salsano and Dr. Drew Pinsky got into a conversation about the effectiveness of psychiatric evaluations on these sorts of shows:
Salsano: It’s hard for us, too. Part of it is, people don’t realize what goes into the preproduction. Like casting: No cast ever goes on my show unless I personally do an… More »
Vh1 has put Celebrity Rehab on hiatus, as it’s being reported the show couldn’t get big enough stars with big enough problems on the show. Sorry Tila Tequila, no paid-for treatment for you; you’re going to have to go away to a cushy Betty Ford-esque clinic in giant sunglasses just like the stars did in the olden days.
Which begs the question: What is our society coming to when publicly drunk train wrecks like Lindsay Lohan and Kristin Cavallari refuse… More »
VH1 has announced that it will be producing 44 original series by the end of 2010. From crazy brides to wagering $10,000 on weight loss, here are four shows we’re excited to watch, and why you’ll want to watch, too. More »
Dr. Drew Pinsky got in some hot water recently for suggesting that, if Michael Lohan knew his daughter Lindsay was an addict, he should go to any lengths to get her help, even if that meant packing her car full of illegal substances and calling the cops. Good advice, Dr. Drew. As if once the cops arrest your daughter for having massive amounts of drugs in her possession you would be able to convince a judge to put her into… More »
This is a clip of Dr. Drew Pinsky’s appearance today on the Ellen show. He and Ellen DeGeneres discussed each of the new patients on this this season of Celebrity Rehab. Ellen is a big reality TV fan and she seems like she watches this show too.
Dr. Drew tells how Dennis Rodman has some brain injury from the alcohol he uses and he reveals that Dennis’ mother will appear this season too.
He talks too about Mackenzie Phillips’ abuse by her… More »
As we begin a new season of Celebrity Rehab on VH1, the celebs are doing some promotional work for the show. Here are some candid photos of Mackenzie Phillips and Dr. Drew Pinsky that were taken as she left his hit radio KROQ show Loveline.
Be sure to watch the new season of Celebrity Rehab on VH1.

Now that the patients are about to graduate from Sex Rehab, it’s time for Celebrity Rehab to be back in session. The third season of the show will premiere on VH1 on January 7, so be sure to set your DVR!
A while back, I let you know who the patients were going to be in rehab this season, but I have to admit that I had no idea… More »
On the last Sex Rehab episode, the group was taken to an art therapy session. The walls were covered with blank paper, the floor with drop cloths and each person wore a hooded jumpsuit and eye protection. Each was offered the chance to help create their own piece of art by throwing globs of paint, mashed potatoes, glass jars, ceramic pots, etc. at the wall as they expressed their anger and pain.
Phil had some pretty cathartic moments when he addressed… More »
On Sex Rehab, Phil has also taken issue with Kari Ann’s behavior, especially her choice of clothing. He is having enough trouble dealing with his own recovery, but then she walks around with half her bum hanging out and it just makes the whole process tougher for him. I agree with him that she showed no respect for her fellow patients whatsoever.
But I’m not the therapist. (Thank goodness!) Licensed clinical therapist Jill Vermeire explained why all of this was… More »
