They're down to the Top 5, and Nicky, Rece, and Byatacelebrate hard with the free champagne and vodka. Rece, though, keeps going long after Nicky and Byata stopped. So, Rece ended up re-bagging her groceries --so to speak. Luckily, Nicky2States, was there, with her maternal know-how, and some nursing school behind her. So, Nicky took up the task of cleaning up the vomit.

They’re down to the Top 5, and Nicky, Rece, and Byatacelebrate hard with the free champagne and vodka. Rece, though, keeps going long after Nicky and Byata stopped. So, Rece ended up re-bagging her groceries –so to speak. Luckily, Nicky2States, was there, with her maternal know-how, and some nursing school behind her. So, Nicky took up the task of cleaning up the vomit.

Byata and Chiba have words over cleaning up the messy kitchen. Chiba wants her to help, but Byata complains of being on her period. Byata was harsh, calling Chiba the Devil, in her interview.

Next morning, Serch and YoYo call the ladies down to the pool area. There, they have quite a show going on to tell the contestants about their opening challenge –Pageant Time: The Show ‘Em What Ya Got, Girl Talent Show. YoYo says she was discovered, when she was doing talent shows. Nicky2States loses her fight with a hula hoop. Rece dances. Cherry does her talent: a “perfect cart wheel”. Chiba had plenty of trouble with the jump ropes in her talent: double dutch. Byata, interestingly, does a kickboxing demonstration.

Rece and Byata win the contest and select their teammates. Byata ends up with Miss Cherry and Chiba. Rece has Nicky2States.

The big challenge is “Hip Hop Ya Don’t Stop”: record a pop song.

Byata boasts that a pop song is for her, “That’s the advantage of being a white girl.” Ok. What year is this? We hear this both ways, and it’s disturbing. “Blacks are good at this.” “Whites are good at that.” It’s very disturbing to throw race into it. Okay. I’m done.

Once the teams have written their songs, they each spend 3 hours in the studio with producer Just Blaze.

Just Blaze and Serch in the studio.
Photo: © 2008 VH1.

Nicky and Rece name their group Double or Nothin. Byata, Cherry, and Chiba pick Buttah.

Double or Nothin has some trouble in the studio. Once Rece is done with her part, there isn’t much time for Nicky2States to record hers.

Buttah had even more trouble, and much more drama. Byata wasn’t pleased by Chiba and her suggestive lyrics –which would be against the rules. They argue over whether or not Chiba’s lyrics referred to her genitals. Chiba was much more graphic. [Ahem!]

Just Blaze liked Chiba’s part, only asking her to tone it down a little.

With their tracks completed, the ladies head to 93.5 FM K-DAY.

Rece and Nicky2States, Double or Nothin’, at KDAY.
Photo: © 2008 VH1.

With Double or Nothin and their song “Ain’t What It Used to Be” up first, most of the call-in response was positive. One caller called it garbage, though.

Byata, Cherry, and Chiba, Buttah, at KDAY.
Photo: © 2008 VH1.

Buttah‘s “Make You Sweat”, though, was fantastic. Cherry’s part was very hot. Every caller loved their song. Things were going well, but Byata’s boasting that she “wrote a hit” was over the top.

Serch and YoYo seemed impressed by both songs. Serch suggested that Rece and Nicky2States needed a stronger chorus. YoYo said that Byata, Cherry, and Chiba didn’t blend together well.

Serch and YoYo did seem to agree with the call-in response at the station, and Buttah won the challenge.

Elimination

Nicky2States and Rece at Elimination.
Photo: © 2008 VH1.

Following the pop theme of pop songs, popcorn, and popping balloons, Rece and Nicky had to come up with 16 bars on their pops –fathers, that is.

Rece and Nicky both did well. Nicky had a stronger story in her song, and Serch and YoYo had more positive feedback for her. Similar to decisions we’ve seen in previous weeks, though, the less positively reviewed performance won.

Nicky2States gets eliminated.

What did you think? Who was your favorite in episode 6? Who did you want to see eliminated?
