Linda Flowers, head hairstylist for The Hunger Games, says she was inspired by “the classics and old Hollywood, mixed it with contemporary textures and colors to create contemporary classics” when it came to Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks‘ hair in the movie. But what about Stanley Tucci‘s navy-blue ponytail? More »
You can’t have the Hunger Games nail polish without a pretty Capitol face to represent it–that’s where Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) comes in as the face of the “Colours from the Capitol” nail polish line from China Glaze. More »
In the wake of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il‘s death, many are questioning what it means for the political state of that troubled country, as well as for the world at large. We here at Crushable totally care about those things, but we’re also somewhat curious as to what it will mean for fictional character Avery Jessup. More »
It’s confirmed: Lionsgate and China Glaze are partnering up on a Hunger Games nail polish! But it will be focused only on the Capitol, and not District 12. Hmm… More »

We get to see District 12 and the Reaping, not to mention our first glimpses of the beautiful Capitol where Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) prepare to compete in the Hunger Games. This movie looks so good! More »
Last week, Vanity Fair released a huge cast photo of Josh Hutcherson, Leven Rambin, and the other young “tributes” who fight to the death in The Hunger Games. And even though it was fantastic to see the movie’s main cast all together, we couldn’t help but miss the older actors who weren’t included: namely, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci, who play members of the series’ image-obsessed Capitol. If the Hunger Games themselves are a commentary on reality TV, then the Capitol is a commentary on plastic surgery and eternally youthful Hollywood. More »
Lionsgate just released eight character posters for The Hunger Games! Contrary to fears that it would just be the main actors who we’ve already seen in promotional shots — Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson — the other five are the first shots we’ve seen of these actors in-character. And they look awesome. More »
It looks like Lionsgate is finally allowing set photos from The Hunger Games to be released to the public — or the studio is realizing that with social media and Twitter-ready fans camped out in North Carolina, there’s no use fighting this free publicity. Starcasm has a whole bunch of photos from the set, including Jennifer Lawrence in Katniss’ reaping dress and buildings dressed up to look like District 12.
But our favorite by far is Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins making her official cameo as a citizen of the Capitol. More »
After almost two weeks of secret talks, Lionsgate has announced that Woody Harrelson will play Haymitch, the only living District 12 victor and Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) mentor during their run in the 74th Hunger Games. Harrelson is a great fit for the role: He’s known for playing wise-cracking, rough-edged mentors — his role as Tallahassee in 2009′s Zombieland quickly comes to mind. More »
Hold on to your hot pink wigs! The hugely anticipated Hunger Games adaptation has begun to fill out its cast: Elizabeth Banks has been added to a crew including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. Each casting decision comes with a round of outcry from devoted fans of the books, many of whom lament the lack of physical resemblance between the actors and their fictional characters. So what do devoted fans of the series think Katniss, Peeta and Gale look like? We went over to DeviantArt to find out. More »
District 1 has its tributes: Jack Quaid (son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan) and Leven Rambin (Sloan’s daughter Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy) will play Marvel and Glimmer in The Hunger Games. In the series, District 1 is one of the richer districts because it manufactures luxury goods for the Capitol. In keeping with the lush lifestyle, the children receive strange names. But don’t think they’re softies: Katniss nicknames the District 1 tributes “Careers” because of how they band together during training. Of course, there can be only one champion. More »
Paul Giamatti‘s newest movie opens up today. It’s called Win Win.
I saw it at Sundance this year and enjoyed it. Alex Shaffer, Giamatti’s young costar (pictured), is particularly fun to watch. But after the film ended came the Q&A, where director Thomas McCarthy explained his casting of Paul as the lead. Lucky for him, the two were already friends. But the actor was hesitant to take on the role of Mike Flaherty, because he wasn’t sure he could handle it. He said something to the effect of “Mike is happy. I can’t do happy.” More »
