The Knitting Factory had been a fixture of downtown New York for decades until it closed last year. After much delay, it is finally reopening in Brooklyn, at 361 Metropolitan Ave. in Williamsburg to be exact.
To celebrate their grand opening tomorrow (Wednesday September 9), Les Savy Fav will be playing. It’s all sold out (probably to industry insiders), but the bar will still be open to the public.

WFMU Brings The Ex to NYC

WFMU Brings The Ex to NYC

Awesome radio station WFMU is putting on a free show this summer and they are bringing none other than Holland’s legendary The Ex to perform, along with their friend Gétatchèw Mèkurya, who is an Ethiopian saxophonist. Also, Either/Orchestra with Mahmoud Ahmed and Alèmayèhu Eshèté, and Extra Golden will be playing. Those bands are both collaborations between Americans and East Africans.
