Woman Tattoos Drake’s Name Across Her Forehead

Think you like Drake? Think again, square. Nobody will ever like Drake as much as this girl, as the tattoo on her forehead would attest.

An LA girl recently became a viral sensation after getting the name of the sweater-loving Canadian rapper tattooed across her forehead. As Drake is basically the oatmeal of rappers, this is a little like getting a Puerto Rican gang sign to rep your favorite Sesame Street character. In other words: an awesome, hilarious idea. Vice was able to get a hold of Kevin Campbell, the tattoo artist who did it, and he shed a bit of light on the story for them:

How did you react when she told you what she wanted done?
The funny thing is, I didn’t know who Drake was. I figured it was her hood or some shit, not some goofnugget R&B dude.

Did she talk about what it meant to her? Had she been planning it for a long time or was she kind of just like, “put it on my forehead” and that’s it?
Yeah, she was really psyched about it. She had the shitty font all picked out on her iPhone ready to go and was pretty adamant about putting it on her forehead. She didn’t say a word about what it meant to her. Some of the guys at the shop asked her, and she just kinda giggled at them. When I printed up the first image of the lettering, she wanted me to go bigger, so that it went pretty much from each side of her hairline to the other. I thought she shaved her eyebrows for the procedure, so when I put the stencil on the first time, it was right over her (missing) eyebrows, but she had me enlarge it a bit and push it up towards the hairline. But yeah, she acted as if she had planned it out for a while, but I’m not really sure how much extended coherent thought could actually go into getting such a stupid tattoo on your forehead.

He also noted ominously that “her attitude changed pretty drastically once the tattoo was finished.” Unfortunately, Campbell was unable to get in touch with the girl to see how she’s liking her new ink, but he promises to report back if, and when, she returns to have it filled in.

Holy shit, you guys. The Old Spice Guy (a.k.a. Isaiah Mustafa) saw the gallery of fan art of him that we posted a while back, and responded directly to our own Liana Maeby via Youtube. He even said her name out loud, lucky girl. (She’s totally going to freak out when she gets back from vacation.) Seeing the potential for even more artistic tributes to his timeless beauty, he decided to give fans a few more poses to work with so that they might use him as their “blank, well chiseled, muscle laden, lady loving canvas.” I’ve screen capped all of them for your perusal; feel free to submit any pleasant smelling fan art you create to submissions@crushable.com.

Those of you still not convinced by Lionsgate’s casting choices for The Hunger Games should check out EmmilyTM‘s pieces on deviantART (via Down With the Capitol). Pulling from photo shoots and candids, she gives us a preview of what the makeup chair will do: Make the actors better resemble Katniss, Gale, and Peeta. We’ve already seen Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss thanks to the Entertainment Weekly cover, and she looked rockin’. But aside from a few paparazzi shots or old magazine shoots, we haven’t had the chance to really envision either guy as her two love interests. (It doesn’t help that each has the opposite coloring of his character.) Photoshop doesn’t cut it; you need someone who will keep it looking natural while nudging your mind in the right direction.

Suddenly I can see a lot of Peeta’s distinguishing features: Piercing stare, unruly hair, slim muscle. And of course, the loaf of bread that put all of this into motion many moons ago. Is it silly to say that with blond hair Josh looks much more vulnerable?

Fan Service: What You Can Do to Help Japan

Often fandom is viewed as an insular, even selfish community dedicated only to discussion and art related to their specific series. As we saw with the whole Firefly fiasco last week, fans can drum up bad press by appearing way too single-minded.

However, those negative incidents don’t characterize fandom as a whole. For every natural catastrophe that has occurred over the past eight years, I’ve witnessed LiveJournal fan communities unite to raise funds for emergency aid organizations. Their latest efforts, centered in the multi-fandom, multimedia community Help Japan, are reminiscent of the actions that fans took after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.

Fan authors, artists, designers, and crafters are currently offering their services in some creative outlet, for their peers to vote on. Some will write commissioned fan fiction starring your favorite on-screen couples; others are designing icons and wallpapers for the less tech-savvy; still others have knitted scarves and hats. The items aren’t limited to something especially fannish; one user living in Northern California offered up “San Francisco in a Box”, a collection including Ghirardelli chocolates and souvenirs from Alcatraz. Finally, you can request an item if it hasn’t been mentioned already. This introductory post has the links for the community’s FAQ, and all the categories.

Starting bids are $5-$15, and so far the item that’s gotten the highest bid (that I could find) was a piece of fanfiction for $125. One writer even offered that she’d be willing to spend 24+ hours getting acquainted with a fandom in order to write an appropriate fanfic. The auction starts as soon as you see an item you’d like; the last day to bid is March 31 at 6 a.m. GMT. The donation is discussed over LiveJournal, but it’s up to the winning bidder to send the agreed-upon amount of money to charities like The American National Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and others.

So what are you waiting for? You could be minutes away from that Max Irons wallpaper you’ve always wanted!
