Remember in Fight Club how Tyler Durden splices frames from pornos into children’s movies? Kim Kardashian‘s drenched, ass-heavy music video for “Jam (Turn It Up)” is like the opposite of that: Someone might have sneaked some art into it, but with the video’s stuttering pace and fast cuts, we can’t see it. As weird as it sounds, one of my favorite “songs” to listen to on YouTube is The Golden Age of Video, a mash-up of classic movie lines by Ricardo Autobahn. A more recent take on the same idea, Jordan Laws‘ “Movie Line Rhymes” rap is almost as good. It’s a bit uneven in places, and yet his choices for lines to set to an original beat are excellent and show that he has a real love for the movies. Plus, his mix delves more into camp, with selections like Napoleon Dynamite and Little Shop of Horrors. Check out both videos after the jump. More »
Okay, so we might not be the biggest fans of sports movies in the world. They’re full of dumb cliches, or people trying to break through those dumb cliches, even those cliches are ultimately true because that’s what good sports coaches do– serve up cliches in meaningful ways? Who knows, we’ve never played a sport in our lives.
However, there is a reason we watch movies like The Mighty Ducks and The Natural: the really, really hot guys. Can’t spell sports without “short-shorts,” you know! (Yes you can.) Here’s our tribute to the beautiful, muscly men of sports movies. More »
Fight Club, With All The Boring Bits Cut Out – I am Jack’s Attention Deficit Disorder. (The Awesomer)
Oh man, we have a new favorite commercial to replace the “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” Life Call ad we thought was the funniest thing in the world when we were five. And this one also involves old people! Two cute elderly men reenact the Brad Pitt/Ed Norton ear-punching scene from Fight Club in this BLU-RAY ad. The reimagining supposedly backs up the tagline “Don’t mess with an original,” though we’d honestly rather watch two hours of David Fincher‘s attempts to work with geriatrics than the actual film. Spirit animal = sloth! More »
Dear Chuck,
I’ve been seeing this guy on and off for about 3 months now, and I think we’ve become pretty serious. But I don’t know when to ask him to change his relationship status on Facebook. It seems like a silly detail, but it matters to me! Should I just change mine and hope he’ll follow suit?
Thanks!

Much like Shakespeare, there are a billion ways to adapt Jane Austen novels to reflect contemporary society. Like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is both a study on Austen’s seminal work, as well as a statement about our current civilization fighting in the zombie apocalypse. Right? I might have read that book wrong. Anyway, here’s what Fight Club would have looked like if really proper British chicks were into it. We dig it.

Ferris Bueller‘s Fight Club – As characters go, Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a pretty good candidate for Edward Norton‘s monotone narrator in Fight Club. But this video isn’t so much a mash-up as it is just a very concept-y piece. The opening is like a music video! (via Kottke)
It’s been awhile since we’ve done a Friday Flashback video at PittWatch but since Brad Pitt just accepted an award at the Spike’s Guys Choice Awards for Fight Club being inducted into the hall of fame, I thought it would be appropriate to remember the movie courtesy of a couple of clips.
This video is a one-minute mash-up tribute, to the point and excellent, it covers the eight rules of Fight Club.
And hey, remember the trailer for the movie? There’s… More »
In the comments the other day people were mentioning that there were rumors – though no photographic evidence – that Brad Pitt had flown to Los Angeles. Everyone was speculating what business he had in town, whether it was for pre-production work on Moneyball or something else. Instead it’s because last night Brad’s hit movie Fight Club was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Spike’s Guys Choice Awards!

Contact Music says that Brad Pitt and Ed Norton are teaming up again, at least as producers on the Lewis and Clark story from the Stephen Ambrose book, Undaunted Courage. Norton says:
“We have friends who’ve been pointing out that there are some funny echoes, similarities between Lewis and Clark and us. I don’t have any prejudice against it. At the moment, we’re acting as good shepherds for the project. It’s being written now.”
The show is being created for… More »
Since it looks like it is going to be a mighty long time until we see Brad and Angelina in current photos, I thought we might try something a little different.
I am asking you all to send in your favorite Brad and Angelina photos for me to post here at PittWatch. I have posted mine to death, I would love to see yours! If you have a link from where the picture came from, it would be appreciated,… More »
