YouTube user mewlists, who brought you the “25 best unscripted scenes” video that we posted a few days ago, has compiled 100 iconic dance sequences that span 90 years of film. In-between the ones mentioned above are such new classics as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s steamy tango from Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Billy Elliot giving in to the music, and Steve Carell and co. gallivanting to “The Age of Aquarius” at the end of The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Movie Trailer Deja Vu: Comparing ‘Footloose’ 1984 to ‘Footloose’ 2011
What should you do when you have a famous iconic movie that everyone has seen? Make it again with new people, obviously. Footloose came out in 1984. It had great success at the box office, but that isn’t stopping Hollywood from remaking it in the least necessary way. Taking apart the trailers from the soon-to-be-released 2011 version and the original 1984 version, we find that they are almost the exact same movie (but the new version has grinding! lots of grinding!) despite the attempt at modernization. Footloose Gets Its Male Lead! – Oh good, finally. Newcomer Kenny Wormald, ex back-up dancer for Justin Timberlake (guess that cattle call really worked?) is taking on the role originated by Kevin Bacon and discarded by both Zac Efron and Chace Crawford. (via E! Online)
Footloose Remake Sends Out Casting Notice – Paramount probably hopes that one of these no-name kids that come to the cattle call will end up being good enough to put in the lead role they can’t seem to fill. Hayden Panettiere to star in "’Footloose” remake?
E! Online first broke the news that Hayden Panettiere auditioned for a lead role in the “Footloose” remake, opposite “Gossip Girls” Chace Crawford. An insider apparently told the magazine that Hayden sang for the film makers and they were very impressed by her voice. Hayden’s place in the lead role of Ariel is not a done deal, but if Hayden makes it to the next round, she’ll be doing a dance audition with Crawford. His role is pretty much set… More »
