Fringe has spent its third season with one foot in the prime universe and one foot in the parallel universe, with the Fringe Division dealing not only with unexplained mysteries in their own world, but with Fauxlivia impersonating Olivia (Anna Torv) to get close to Peter (Joshua Jackson), all part of a plan masterminded by Walternate. In a conference call last week, Fringe showrunners J.H. Wyman and Jeff Pinkner discussed how excited they are to get picked up for a fourth season, and what mysteries will be solved in the May 6 season finale.

With all of this season’s focus on multiple worlds, the question had to be asked: Is there a third universe to be explored? “We’re not introducing a third world,” Pinkner said. “There’s our world, and then there’s the world that Peter was taken from as a baby. We still have plenty of story… to tell just in those two worlds. Maybe at some point in the future there will be a third world, but not yet.”

And you know why we need to keep our focus on here and Over There? Because “someone who we love deeply will die.” While they couldn’t come out and tell us who was going to the bite the bullet, Wyman did say that “it’s going to be effective, and I think it will be self-explanatory.” We’re taking that to mean that the death will be a meaningful one, fitting to that character.

As for the general mood of the season, the producers wanted it to reflect the show’s theme of perception, of things being different than they seem. At the same time, they were planning it out without the guarantee of season 4, so there was a lot of emotion going into the storytelling.

“We wanted the season finale to exceed the season, and not just pay it off,” Pinkner said, “…and make you view the entire season from a different context. Like really emotionally and sort of intellectually make you reconsider everything you had seen before. It’s one of the themes that we constantly go back to is perception, and the different natures of reality and choices and how those different choices branch off down different paths.”

Welcome to Crush This, your weekly guide to what’s new in movies, music and TV. We’ve navigated the inner reaches of our entertainment-obsessed brains in search of all the pop culture landscape has to offer. Are you ready? This is the biggest week in television premieres, with everything from new shows like Hawaii Five-0 and old favorites like Glee debuting. Get ready to set your DVR. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s some big movie premieres, too, headlined by hotties like Shia, James and Ryan.

TV: Let’s see if we can fit all the new series premieres here. Tonight, all the networks are debuting their new Monday night line-ups. CBS is new with How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Two and a Half Men and new shows Mike and Molly and Hawaii Five-0. NBC has a brand new episode of the almost-canceled Chuck followed by series premieres of the confusing The Event and Chase. Dancing with the Stars debuts on ABC, followed by a brand new season of Castle. And on FOX, check out House and new show Lonestar.

On Tuesday, there’s even more premieres: Glee on FOX, followed by new shows Raising Hope and the Will Arnett and Keri Russell sitcom Running Wilde. On Wednesday we’ll be watching a new Modern Family on ABC, and new shows Undercovers, Better With You, The Defenders and The Whole Truth. Law & Order: SVU also premieres, but we think two lawyer shows in one night is enough.

Thursday is a big night on NBC, with new episodes of Community, 30 Rock, The Office and new show Outsourced. And of course there’s Emmy winning Big Bang Theory on CBS, followed by the debut of Twitter-based series $#*! My Dad Says. Fringe is on FOX, and Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice are back on ABC.

Need more? What about new series Blue Bloods on Friday night and a brand new Saturday Night Live with host Amy Poehler.

Movies: We’ve been waiting to see James Franco as Allen Ginsberg in Howl, and our wait is almost over: the biopic debuts Friday. And, after being pushed back from this spring, Shia LaBeouf and Michael Douglas star in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Also in theaters Friday: You Again, the lady flick starring Kristen Bell, Odette Yustman Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis and, of course, Betty White and thriller Buried with Ryan Reynolds.

Music: Disney princess Selena Gomez and her band The Scene debut their second album, A Year Without Rain</i< on Tuesday. Will she be able to give Miley a run for her money? And there’s more much-anticipated albums dropping this week, too: John Legend and The Roots‘ collaboration Wake Up!, Maroon 5‘s Hands All Over and Shontelle‘s No Gravity.

People tell you never to cut your own hair, and probably for a good reason. Unless you go to a liberal arts college where walking around looking like a rejected member of Green Day is going to fly, you should probably keep the scissors far, far away from your own hair. But that doesn’t mean you can’t fake choppy locks to see how you like the style. All you need is some product, some accessories, and a good excuse for why your hair will have seemed to grow out overnight.

Step 1: Buy (or make) some hair product – The best way to make your clip-on bangs look natural is to use the same oils and conditioners on both your real and fake locks. If you’re going to for the emo, choppy look, feel free to whip up a batch of the stuff yourself. This recipe comes from Long Locks and will tint your hair a nice shade of red:

Ingredients
1/2 cup beet juice
1/2 cup carrot juice

Directions
Mix ingredients together, pour over clean, damp hair. Wrap head in plastic and apply hot towel, medium dryer heat, or sit in the sun for one hour. Shampoo.

Step 2: Get your clip-on bangs – We know, it seems sillier than buying a fake nose ring. But how else are you going to try the look out without dedicating four months of your life to the style? You can buy extension bangs at any wig store or have your stylist do it (that would sort of defeat the purpose though). Or you can buy your own bangs at Ultimate Looks, where these hand-bandy things kind of hang down in front of your face:

Step 3: Or…Fake Your Own – You can fake having bangs without wearing a crazy-ass hairnet thingie by spending some extra hours following those people on YouTube for tutorials. Sure it takes awhile longer, but on the plus side your friends won’t ask you why you’re wearing a bang-weave.

With his guy-next-door good looks and megawatt smile, we totally want to score a date with a guy like Josh.

(Editor’s Note: Agreed. But he’s joined at the hip with Diane Kruger!)

First, the Fringe star filmed this video parodying his days playing Pacey on Dawson’s Creek.

“Most actors want to escape the role they played in the past,” he told Crushable. “So we did a video about a guy who only wants to remembered for that.”

Second, he looked totally natural working a Calvin Klein suit on the boardwalk. “The nice people from that company gave me this to wear, and it will be back on the hanger to return tomorrow,” he joked, though he admits his fashion sense has improved since girlfriend Diane Kruger came into his life. The secret to his style is listening to her say, “no. It’s just, no,” he joked.

Third, it was pretty much a general consensus among all the female reporters on the pier that Joshua is not only handsome, but funny, approachable and a little bit self-deprecating, everything we’d look for in our own boyfriend. And we told him so.

“That’s pretty great,” he replied with a laugh. “It would have been even greater when I was single, but now I’m devoted to one woman only.”

We just found reason No. 4.

Tell us about this musical episode.

I know it sounds weird, but they made it work so well, I promise.

How was Josh Jackson’s voice?

He’s the only person who doesn’t sing! He’s got that kind of clout where he’s like, ‘I’m not going to sing.’ And he didn’t sing. But everyone else was super excited. Lance Reddick [who plays Agent Broyles] is a composer and a jazz musician. He has an incredible voice, he was playing the piano. It’s going to be really, really great. The cow is even in a musical number.

Did you sing?

Yes, I did. I sang from A Chorus Line actually, which is funny because I moved to New York to be in musical theater, and I never made it to Broadway. I did Off-Broadway stuff, but I never made it to Broadway. And now I’m on this television show singing Broadway songs. It’s so backwards I can’t even grasp it all.

Do you want to get to Broadway eventually?

I would love to! I think that maybe I have to do lots of good TV shows and a lot films and then I’ll finally make it to Broadway. It’s just all jabberwocky in my head. But I would love to be on the stage again.

We’ve navigated the upcoming release calendars in search of all the pop culture landscape has to offer. On deck this week are The Last Song with Miley Cyrus, 10 Things I Hate About You and more.

Movies:

Miley and her Aussie boyfriend of 10 months, Liam Hemsworth, co-star in the latest adaption of a Nicholas Sparks weepie; this one, called The Last Song, comes out on Wednesday and features Miley as a teen rebel from New York who gets sent down to a seaside Southern town to reconnect with her estranged father (Greg Kinnear). There, she meets a boy and they fall in love but like any Sparks tale, this one might not have a totally pat ending. It also doesn’t have Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Still, we’re interested in seeing how Miley carries a dramatic role versus sunny Hannah Montana fare. If she plays her cards right, she could pull a Hathaway and score a Rachel Getting Married/Oscar nomination with darker material.

Clash of the Titans arrives Friday, with Liam Neeson as Zeus — we likey! — Sam Worthington as Perseus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades, because playing the evil Voldemort is not good enough. Why is Gerard Butler doing rom-coms and NOT THIS?

Also on tap for Friday: Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? We loved the first one — if only for Jill Scott’s wrenching turn as a wronged wife — and for the sequel, Janet Jackson chews some major dramatic scenery as a woman whose marriage is on the rocks; she did not have to reach far to channel her character’s anger and distress. Her brother Michael Jackson died while she was filming the movie in the Bahamas, and production halted so she could grieve with her family.

TV:

Remember the awesome ’90s movie, 10 Things I Hate About You, co-starring Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger? Well, now that film is serving as inspiration for the ABC Family sitcom, which debuts new episodes starting tonight. Crushable’s Amanda Ernst has the inside scoop.

Monday also brings the season-finale of Greek, and a brand-new episode of the Travel Channel’s No Reservations, wherein Anthony Bourdain visits central Vietnam highlands. Vietnam is Tony’s Shangri-la; Sweden is his vision of Hell.

The ABC sci-fi series V co-starring Scott Wolf and Elizabeth Mitchell returns Tuesday to round out season one; the show, about the unwelcome arrival of nefarious alien visitors, could not ask for a better lead-in on the heels of Lost, which is kicking ass and making us crazy in its series finale. Also on Wednesday: The National Geographic Channel premieres Rebel Monkeys, about a gang of bothersome-yet-sacred monkeys holding fort in Jaipur, India.

New episodes of Fox’s Bones and Fringe arrive Thursday, so as to not interfere with the network’s cash cow American Idol.

Music:

After a brief delay, Usher is ready to drop his latest album Raymond v. Raymond on Tuesday. It’s a good one, since Usher does NOT do mediocre. That said, we have the sinking feeling that someday in the near future, Usher will be opening for the horrifying national phenomenon known as Justin Bieber, the protege he plucked from obscurity and introduced to the masses. The protege who will one day stab him in the back and steal his girlfriend.

The episode, the sixth in the new series, was entitled “The Cure.”

Chris Eigeman’s villainous character was named David Esterbrook. David Esterbrook is CEO of a pharmaceutical company called Intrepus. His “research”, however, goes beyond what the law (and moral decency) allows him to. Oh, what you can do when you are willing to “challenge” yourself (*sarcasm*). Anyway, he has been running some secret experiments on humans that have hurt a lot of people, and inevitably gets him arrested.

Although FOX did not release any photos of Chris Eigeman, here is a video segment from the episode that features Chris as David Esterbrook (scroll to around 3:20 for the start):
