Lots of good stuff on sale today, including all of the shows for Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, which will host Marianne Faithfull, St. Vincent, Dirty Projectors, and many others. Good Old War and Cast Spells (solo project of Dave Davison of Maps & Atlases), are releasing a split EP on Sargeant Records for their December tour and their show at the Knitting Factory is definitely one to see.

Good Old War
Good Old War, a new band with members from Days Away who have played as Anthony Green’s backing band, have releaseed their debut album Only Way to Be Alone, and I must say it is pretty darn good. It’s folky, but not overtly so, with the band letting the music and the lyrics do that talking for them. They use harmonies to their advantage and acoustic guitars never sounded so good.
