Crushable got a glimpse of tonight’s Tony Awards action at a dress rehearsal for the show, where we watched host Sean Hayes have some fun mocking the Newsweek writer who called him too gay to play straight. Sean, also nominated for his role in the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises, was joined onstage at Radio City by co-star Kristin Chenoweth, who was “not-minated.”

Paula Abdul To Resurface At The Tony Awards
Paula Abdul will present the award for Best Choreography at this Sunday’s Tony Awards, a show insider tells Crushable. Paula, who will soon be a judge on CBS’ Gotta Dance, recently made a cameo at the American Idol finale to pay tribute to departing judge/partner-in-sexual tension Simon Cowell.

Crushable has learned that Vampire Weekend is in talks to write songs for an upcoming Broadway adaptation of the classic college movie Animal House starring Jon Belushi.
Also in talks to write music for the show is Michigan band Tally Hall. It’s unclear whether both bands would be working on the final version together or if one will be chosen over the other.

More Green Day After Aussie Concerts Sell Out
Aussie music fans have snapped up tickets to Green Day’s upcoming shows, with the Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane concerts all selling out within half an hour this morning.

Australian Green Day Tour Rumoured for December
Nothing’s been officially announced by Green Day’s camp just yet, but greendayauthority.com has posted dates for an Australian tour.
The site says the band will kick off its 21st Century Breakdown tour in Perth on December 4, before heading to arenas in capital cities around the country.
They probably don’t want to go booking flights or anything yet, but Green Day fans should definitely keep these dates free!

Economic Crisis Kills Aussie Concert Calendar
2009 could be a quiet year for concertgoers as the economic crisis bites local booking agencies.
With the Aussie dollar sitting at a measly 65 cents, it’s becoming harder to attract those big international acts. Tours by Paul McCartney, Madonna, Neil Diamond, Green Day, and Metallica have all been shelved indefinitely.
“We’ve seen a couple of tours blow out,” said Acer Arena’s Don Elford. “It probably has a lot to do with the dollar.”
