It's Official: Katherine Heigl Leaving 'Grey's Anatomy'

Well, it’s almost official: Katherine Heigl will be released from her Grey’s Anatomy contract any day now, reports Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly. The actress has been away on maternity leave for the past several months, and apparently has not returned to set to film the final five episodes of the season. Most likely, she won’t, meaning her final episode has probably already aired.

What do you think about the Grey’s news? Is it any surprise that Katherine is leaving? Are you sad she won’t be back so her character gets a proper goodbye?

Kathleen Wilhoite on "Grey's Anatomy" Tonight

Kathleen Wilhoite (Liz on Gilmore Girls) will be guest starring tonight on ABC’s hit show, Grey’s Anatomy, which has seen many Gilmore Girls stars in recent seasons.

The episode tonight, entitled “Invasion”, continues with the residents of Seattle Grace and Mercy West trying to save their careers as they fight for the limited number of surgeries – and jobs – available as the hospital merger begins. Meanwhile, though Callie is now secured at Seattle Grace, her personal life gets messy. Her father brings in a priest to try to get her to date men… while Arizona looks on.

In the episode, Kathleen Wilhoite guest stars as Leslie, the daughter of a patient. In the scene previewed below, the residents are fighting over who will treat her dad:

It looks like an interesting episode – one where patient care could be compromised by all this bickering!!

Liza Weil on "Grey's Anatomy"

Liza Weil (Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls) guest starred last night in the incredible 2-hour season finale of Grey’s Anatomy.

Yeah, it was an episode with drama. MAJOR drama. My jaw dropped at the end, that’s for sure. Liza Weil guest starred in the episode as Allison, a cancer patient who is close friends with Izzie. She serves as an inspiration for Izzie, her tumors having disappeared without surgical intervention. However, there’s an unexpected dramatic even there too. However, my favorite part was when Allison was checking out Alex’s butt. Too cute.

Liza Weil to Guest on "Grey's Anatomy"

Liza Weil (Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls) has been busy making the circuit for television guest appearances! Not only will we be seeing Liza in upcoming episodes of In Plain Sight and CSI, she’ll also be one of many Gilmore Girls stars to make an appearance on Grey’s Anatomy this season!

This season Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim) guest starred, as did Susane Lee (Kyon). According to Ausiello, Liza Weil will guest star in the 2-hour season finale of Grey’s Anatomy on May 14th.

Liza is slated to appear in the series as a cancer patient who crosses paths with Izzie (and considering what Izzie is going through, I imagine it could be a dramatic role to fill!).

Susane Lee on "Grey's Anatomy" - Video

Susane E. Lee (Kyon on Gilmore Girls) appeared on the March 12th episode of Grey’s Anatomy. As previously mentioned, she played with a band geek who was incorrectly treated with epilepsy for many years. Her life was horrible as a result of this. However, the doctors at Seattle Grace, Alex in particular, spotted that it wasn’t epilepsy at all. She had a simply heart arrhythmia that was easily treated.

Now, finally, here’s video of it!

Emily Kuroda on "Grey's Anatomy"

As I let you know earlier this week, Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim on Gilmore Girls) appeared in last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, ‘Stand by Me.’ She played a patient in the hospital for a hernia repair, and was Christina’s first solo surgery, as you can see from about 6 minutes in to the video below:

I still can’t find the great scene that Susane Lee did in last week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, which is unfortunate. She played a great band geek!

Susane Lee and Emily Kuroda on "Grey's Anatomy"

Susane E. Lee (Kyon on Gilmore Girls) appeared on the March 12th episode of Grey’s Anatomy entitled ‘I Will Follow You Into the Dark‘.

Susane played Beth in the episode, a band nerd who had been treated for epilepsy for many years by mistake – it turned out to be a simple heart arrhythmia. You can see a few scenes of Susane’s appearance in this video:

And, not to be satisfied with just one Gilmore Girls star this month, Grey’s Anatomy also cast Susane Lee’s “temporary” mom, Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim on Gilmore Girls) in this week’s March 19th episode, “Stand by Me.” Just like Susane, Emily will play a patient. She’s the one on the operating table in the preview:
