You’re Looking In The Wrong Place: Stop Trying To Meet Guys Here

Did you dream of meeting Prince Charming as he trots on a horse down the path to your classes? Give it up, gals. Common college wisdom, articles all over the Internet and bad teen/college movies have likely instilled in you the belief that you’re going to meet the man of your dreams in a whole bunch of places around campus. The gym, the library and so on. I say this is nonsense. Stop hanging around the library looking for a hot dude! They’re there to study.

Without further adieu, stop flirting in the following places:

The Library: As I said, do you really know anyone who’s ever gotten a date by hanging around the school library? I do not. For reasons that escape me, my mother has consistently portrayed the library as a place where romance abounds. “Don’t go to bars, you will be better off meeting someone in the library.” False. Most people in the library are probably so hopped up on Adderall they don’t even realize you’re there. When you go to the library, get your homework done, so you can focus on meeting people in the real world.

Class: As I’ve discussed before, you should not make out with people from class! Your class crush is likely an exaggeration of your bored imagination. Even if the eye sex is mutual, all bets are off when you have to interact outside the classroom. Not to mention, it’s probably not going to work out and as a result, it’s going to be awkward.

The Gym: Ew. Whenever my friends go to the gym, they come back saying how attractive the guys are there. Sure, they’re sweaty, probably muscular, show initiative, yada yada yada. Though the gym may be a fine spot for ogling eye candy, I cannot even imagine someone asking for my number there! The hypothetical scenario of this going down is even problematic to me. Is he going to start talking to you as you’re awkwardly working it on the treadmill? Are you going to have to pause the treadmill and then talk to him while you’re red and sweaty and out of breath? By all means, check out the abounding pecs, but don’t expect to meet a bodybuilder boyfriend.

By Joining A Sorority: Joining a sorority can no doubt be a great thing for your social life, your professional life and your academic life. But it can ultimately be an impediment in trying to meet men, even of the frat variety. Sure, it’s awesome that you’ll get to go to mixers and date parties and such, in rooms full of bachelors, but good luck sticking out when you’re dressed in an outfit that matches every other girl in the room. Not only is it hard to stand out, but it’s also intimidating for a guy to approach a girl while she’s surrounded by a big group of chicks.

So where then, should you meet guys? I have no idea, but probably where you least expect it.

Hilary Duff With Personal Trainer

Hilary Duff was seen with her personal trainer, Harley Pasternak, at a gym in West Hollywood yesterday. She wasn’t alone in her workout, though. Boyfriend Mike Comrie was there too, getting a good deal more sweaty in his own workout!

Hilary Duff at the Gym

It looks like the report yesterday was probably not true, regarding Hilary already starting filming for Gossip Girl. I suspected it wasn’t true, but now it’s pretty clear. While that report had Hilary already in New York filming her guest appearance, this new candid video places Hilary in LA yesterday at the gym again!

Too bad the video is so short!

Hilary Duff at V Pilates

Hilary Duff was pictured continuing with her strict fitness routine by attending another V Pilates class on Tuesday. Hilary has been very consistent in going to pilates (and also piloxing) classes this summer!

The paparazzi tried to ask Hilary how the class was, but she kept pretty quiet, only saying “It’s hot” to a question about the weather.

Hilary Duff’s Many Workouts

Hilary Duff sure is spending a lot of her free time at the gym! For the third day in a row, Hilary was seen leaving the gym for her Pilates class and carrying a cup of coffee.

I wonder if Hilary is at the gym a lot because she’s at home right now, or if she’s trying to firm up for any of her upcoming movie roles?

Hilary Duff was spotted out and about in LA yesterday running a lot of errands. Her day included a trip to her pilates class as well as a stop for coffee (something she also did the day before).

I LOVE the gladiator sandals Hilary is wearing, don’t you?

And for those of you who follow Hilary’s charity work, a Hilary Duff fan put together a Facebook page for the Blessings in a Backpack charity as part of a school project. You can check it out here.

Hilary Duff Talks Fitness

Hilary Duff recently gave a brief interview to That’s Fit about how she keeps up with her fitness routine and how she stays motivated.

Hilary Duff confessed that her schedule can be unpredictable, so getting to the gym 4 or 5 days a week is just not possible:

“I try to just squeeze in whenever I can. I work with a great trainer who I do circuits with when I can, and I also do Pilates.”

Hilary says that paying a trainer helps to keep her motivated. She never thinks “I’m going to go to the gym”, so knowing that she’s paying someone or using their time keeps her going regularly. However, Hilary says she’s putting a gym in her house, hoping that will increase her fitness routines.

The last question asked Hilary Duff if she changed her diet to get ready for summer. Hilary says she tries not to be the person who tells herself what not to eat, but rather chooses to eat in moderation and make smarter choices.

After the gym, Hilary went to Whole Foods for a quick grocery shop. She was stopped briefly by some activist, and did humor him to listen for a bit. Hilary has been spending a lot of time at the gym lately and is looking fantastic!
