Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto went on The Today Show this week to promote her new film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes,  and during her appearance she talked about how embarrassed she is that some of her early commercial work has made it onto Youtube. “Some of my ads are now on Youtube and it’s just so embarrassing,” she said. “There is a silly Wrigley chewing-gum ad you should check out. It’s so stupid. This guys pops a gum in his mouth and I fall from a tree on to his bike! Then he’s got a girl.” Ask and you shall receive, Freida Pinto. Here it is:

Wow, that wasn’t stupid at all. I don’t know what Freida was talking about. The falling women are a metaphor for how swiftly bad breath falls in the face of this gum, and the sheep in the end is a metaphor for how into bestiality someone at Wrigley is. Nonetheless, her current work is even classier. Congrats, girl. You’ve come a long way.

When she was 15, Taylor was racking up $1,000 monthly bills at the local diner, drinking and smoking pot and staying out late with her friends at NYC hot spots, and strewing $12,000 worth of designer clothing around her room. Tracey was having none of it, so she did what any rational parent would do — she shipped her daughter off to India to live in the slums for three weeks. Wait — what?

Although Tracey admits she maybe wasn’t the best parent for letting Taylor get away with it all, we’re not sure she’s the best parent for sending her 15-year-old daughter to live in an Indian slum for three weeks, where she subsisted only on coffee and gum — while she stayed in a nearby hotel. Tracey accompanied her daughter on the trip so she could capture it all on film for a documentary the two made called Lucky Ducks — but her description of Taylor’s experience is kind of horrifying:

“At Taylor’s school, lunch was bowls of gruel, scooped out by hand. Back at her compound, the toilet was a hole in the floor and the shower consisted of buckets of water in the same room.”

Somewhow we don’t think buying her an iced coffee could help that situation. What’s more, the trip didn’t exactly do what Tracey hoped it would do:

“Back home, Taylor slipped back into her bad ways — pot-smoking, clubbing, undereating — and I discovered that I couldn’t rewire her in just three weeks.”

So was all that trouble and sacrifice really worth it? Years later, Taylor grew up, got new friends and started film school — but who’s to say whether that would have happened without a potentially scarring trip to India? Lindsay talked to Extra about her recent humanitarian trip to India to film a documentary for BBC on child trafficking.

“I think its so important right now — especially [because of] what just happened in Haiti — for everybody to kind of look at themselves and look at the life that they have and be really grateful for what they have and do as much as they can… especially if they have a voice,” Lindsay told Extra.

She said her trip was “really life-changing.”

When asked about Lindsay’s favorite highlight from the Golden Globes, she said it was Drew Barrymore.

“Drew Barrymore,” Lindsay told Extra. “I just love her so much. Her speech was so genuine and I just thought it was beautiful.”

Lindsay said her style inspiration for her hooded dress was from Lady Gaga, who she loves.

“I feel a little bit like Lady Gaga with the hood,” Lindsay says. “I love her.”

When asked about projects, Lindsay mentioned her upcoming movie Machete.

“I have movie coming out called ‘Machete’ with Robert Rodriguez, who was the director — so I’m very excited for that,” Lindsay told Extra.

“It was an amazing, life-changing experience for her,” Dina Lohan told PEOPLE on Saturday. “I’m so proud of Lindsay, that under all the scrutiny the tabloids put her under, she is a very strong, caring, talented girl who ignores all the negative, and continues to move forward in a positive direction. I am so proud of her.”

A short clip from the documentary, called “Lindsay Lohan in India,” was released on Friday. The documentary chronicles the her visit to India in December.

According to the BBC, Lohan meets with “young boys who work 16-hour days under the constant threat of beatings, …a reformed trafficker who would make a quick buck luring young girls…[and] a shelter where young girls promised domestic work for India’s burgeoning middle classes were trafficked into brothels and forced into prostitution.”

“As her trip draws to an end,” a BBC press release says, according to PEOPLE, “Lindsay questions whether the increasing demand for domestic help and consumer goods by India’s wealthy, coupled with the increasing poverty in rural India, , means there is any solution to this abominable trade.”

A few lucky fans got the opportunity to meet Lilo in the Taj Bengal’s The Junction on Dec. 10 - and she even posed with them for a photo and autograph, according to a story in the Telegraph India.

Before Lilo and her male friend left, the fans asked Lindsay for her autograph.

“How do you know each other,” Lindsay asked.

“We’re friends,” said the fan’s 27-year-old classmate from school.

Just friends?” Lindsay quizzed.

“She’s not my type,” the friend said and Lindsay broke into laughter but immediately took the other girl’s side. ‘That’s so mean,” she said. “But well, it’s okay because this is my friend (pointing at the man who was lighting up a cigarette next to her) and well, we’re not each other’s type at all!”

When the fan asked Lindsay how she liked Calcutta, Lindsay said they had took her to a place where she met lots of children, but the children didn’t have homes because of the floods. Lindsay said she even painted one little girl’s fingernails and gave the girl her phone number.

When the fan’s classmate jokingly threatened to cut her friend out of the photograph of the three of them, Lindsay laughed.
After the photo was taken, she told the fan:

“I leaned towards you.”
