The biggest new feature of the brand-new iPhone 4S is, without a doubt, Siri. Siri, you see, is like your personal assistant, only better, because you can carry her around in your pocket. You can ask her to call people and she’ll do it; texting, ditto; if you need directions, she can do that; hell, just about anything you need, she can find a solution for you. In fact, you can carry out whole conversations with Siri.
This got me thinking. Whole conversations? What would Siri be like in a place where questions and answers really matter? Like, say… on a date?
So I did just that. I dressed Siri up and I took her out to her favorite restaurant, and we attempted to get to know each other a little better. How did it go? Well… More »
Y’all, I have a confession: I’ve got a big old lady crush on singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata. Like a serious one. I took her photo to my hairstylist once and was like, “This, please!” It looked terrible! Sigh. Anyway, Rachael’s got a new record coming out in October, and she just released the cover art, which was shot on the iPhone app Camera+. More »
Talking Heads founder David Byrne is perpetually up to something cool. If he’s not singing backing vocals on Arcade Fire records or writing his New York Times column about cycling (seriously), he’s creating wry and topical art. His latest offering is this series of fake iPhone apps which will be seen in a group show called “Social Media” alongside works by artists including Miranda July and Christopher Baker.

Hey you — yeah, you, the girl posting photos taken in the mirror with your iPhone. Beware how public you make your “candid” Facebook self-portraits, because Slacktory may choose you to add to their hall of fame, where they Photoshop in a NSFW accessory like a douche or a dead baby. Now that we’ve given you fair warning, laugh at the people who were unable to avoid this embarrassing fate — especially because the objects that Slacktory has chosen are so wrong they’re just right for the people who snapped the photos. “The iBoobies is both an iPhone case and an iPhone stand.” Great! I already have both of those things and neither needs to be taken in for a yearly mammogram. Are you guys aroused right now? I bet you guys are totally around right now. More »
iPhone users: Did you know that your phone has been tracking everywhere you’ve been since June of 2010? Because it has. And it wants everyone to know it.
The Guardian reports that every detail about your phone’s movement is saved in a secret file on the phone itself;then, once you’ve synchronized your phone with your computer, the file is copied over to your hard drive as well. The coordinates are recorded in the form of latitude and longitude, and there’s a timestamp to go along with them– so not only does your phone know where you’ve been, it knows exactly when you were there. This is weird enough on its own, but you know what makes it even weirder? If your phone or your computer are stolen, the thief could hypothetically unearth this information quite easily. More »
This is an image of Perez Hilton looking inside a tin can that holds tiny Kardashians with mermaid tails. It’s part of an iPhone app that evidently contains a whole bunch of photographs of celebrities dressed as first-act Ariels. Not quite as interactive as Angry Birds, but we suppose you can poke and prod them on your screen all you want. More »

Ah yes, this reminds us of our favorite old idiom, “Don’t judge an iPad by its cover, unless its cover is actually 12,000 Swarovski crystals, in which case it is most certainly owned by a lunatic.” Korean company Crystograph is selling these crystal-covered Apple gadgets. The iPad comes in both crystal and black diamond versions, while the only iPhone option is the jeweled version seen above. More »
We feel old and useless. Again. 17-year-old Fei Lam has earned $130,000 over the last few months, by making and selling white iPhone 4 covers to obsessive Apple fan boys who don’t have the patience to wait for Apple to release them. (brandflakes)

This is really sweet! Some guy wrote a song about how he’s, like, totally addicted to his girlfriend, then created a mock iPhone commercial that ended with a proposal. He surprised his lady by getting his local movie theater to play the vid before the trailers – cute!
(She said yes via a PC ad parody video. Match made in Heaven.) More »

Not feeling fancy enough that you’ve got yourself a flashy iPhone? Make people even more envious of your high tech tool with a fried egg and bacon or some rice as a case. Or just make yourself hungry! These are real and for purchase, BTW.
Wonder how the spotty iPhone reception is when you’ve got a serving of rice attached to the back.

Have you ever been like “Wow, I really love my new iPhone with all its amazing features and toys, I just wish there was a way to convey the skull-and-crossbones international symbol for ‘poison’ without having to spend precious minutes typing that word out on my texts?” Thank goodness some genius programmer has created the Glyphboard app for download, so you don’t waste a moment telling someone to not eat that rat poison…. Remember that fake iPhone commercial with Jane Lynch that was circulating a little while back? Now her former Party Down co-star Adam Scott is starring in a similar parody about the new iPhone 4, which makes us believe that all the cast-members from that show still hang out together and give each other pro-tips on being awesome. And then pass them along to other costars: Adam Scott was in The Vicious Kind with Brittany Snow earlier this year, and she… More »
