Not six months ago, he was in a tux at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel hoping to collect an Oscar for directing “The Fighter.” Now he has a cameo on a CW soap opera? The only possible explanation here is blackmail. Remember, George Clooney once punched this guy in the jaw. O. Russell’s all over You Tube screaming at poor Lily Tomlin. By all accounts he’s a miserable human being. The producers must have something so terrible on him, something so heinous that he’s at their beck and call. Video Gallery: My 5 Favorite Rilo Kiley Songs
Aw man, Rilo Kiley broke up. The Jenny Lewis-fronted group was one of my favorite bands in high school and I totally saw them a bunch of times. Here’s a ridiculous anecdote about those guys from my teenage years:
My folks’ house, the house I grew up in, is located in a beautiful, hilly neighborhood on the Eastside of Los Angeles. It’s a quiet and lovely little area off the beaten path. (That’s one great thing about L.A., it’s so sprawling that little pockets can remain relatively undiscovered. Mt. Washington was one of those places up until the last decade or so). One day, there was a lot of strange stuff going on outside the house: someone had parked in our driveway and people were walking back and forth. I walked outside to investigate and saw a photoshoot in progress, a Rilo Kiley photoshoot. The kicker? I was wearing an effing Rilo Kiley t-shirt at the time. Actually. Conspiracy Theory: The Jenny and Johnny Song ‘My Pet Snakes’ Is About Blake Sennett
Former Rilo Kiley lead singer (well, she might be the current singer, since the band hasn’t broken up officially) Jenny Lewis‘ side project is a collaboration with her boyfriend, singer/songwriter Johnathan Rice. My favorite track on the album, I’m Having Fun Now, is “My Pet Snakes,” because it is a) catchy, and b) probably the only pop song ever that has used the word “ourobouros” in it. However, when you pay attention to the lyrics, shit starts to get interesting. I’m 99 percent convinced that the song is about Rilo Kiley member – and Jenny’s ex – Blake Sennett.
