Monsters of Folk, the supergroup made up of M. Ward, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and Jim James (My Morning Jacket), played two New York-area shows this weekend: Friday at United Palace and Sunday at the Beacon Theatre. I was lucky enough to go to the Friday show.

Monsters of Folk is a folk supergroup comprised of Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and singer/songwriter M.Ward. The group has a self-titled debut album coming out on September 22. A track from the album is available for free on their website and it’s called “Say Please.” To get it go to the site and type “please” into the request form.
