Weird things that happened this week included Game of Thrones actor Sean Bean getting stabbed in a bar brawl. I have to admit, though, that this one kind of makes me adore him just a little bit more, because he was apparently leaping to defend the honor of model April Summers. Furthermore, after the incident, instead of heading to the hospital, he merely went back inside the bar, asked for a first aid kit, and patched himself up while ordering another drink, which I find mildly hilarious. Though Bean certainly isn’t the only celebrity to have gotten into a bar brawl, he may well be one of the only ones that has done so for an honorable reason. Virgin Viewing: ‘The Goonies’
One of the best things about doing this feature is that I’ve been able to catch up on pop culture references I was missing out on. And few movies are more beloved and quoted by my friends than The Goonies. Last week, when I watched Mary Poppins, I enjoyed the movie but figured that I would have liked it better had I watched it as a kid. With The Goonies I had the same fear: is it a movie you love because it’s just plain awesome, or is it a movie you love because it had major childhood nostalgia connected to it? I’ve Never Seen ‘The Goonies’
Last week was the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future, which was commemorated all over America by having the movie come out on Blu-Ray. I was very excited: Back to the Future formed most of my pre-adolescent ideas about time travel, the 50s, and making out with your mother. Today, The Goonies celebrates its own 25th anniversary Blu-Ray release, which means that a) The Goonies came out the same year as Back to the Future and b) I have made it 25 years without seeing probably the most influential adventure film of my generation. Hailee Steinfeld Cast In ‘True Grit’
Looks like there’s a new rising star to watch: According to reports, 13-year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld will play the lead in True Grit, a Western from Joel and Ethan Coen. The movie, which is an adaptation of a novel by Charles Portis, is about a 14-year-old who recruits a U.S. marshal to track down her father’s murderer. Big names, including Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin, are already set to star in the film.

Shia Shines In New ‘Wall Street 2′ Trailer
As much as we loved the cameo appearance by Gordon Gekko’s 80′s style cell phone in the first released trailer for the upcoming sequel to 1987′s Wall Street, the latest trailer to hit the Web gives us even more reasons to buy a ticket for opening day.
