Kelly Clarkson Joins Lilith Fair Lineup

Kelly Clarkson is joining this summer’s revamped Lilith Fair. She’ll be performing with people like Sarah McLachlan, who founded the festival, Ke$ha, Colbie Caillat, Tegan and Sara, Corinne Bailey Rae, Erykah Badu, Emmylou Harris, Metric, Jill Scott, La Roux, Loretta Lynn, The Bangles, The Go-Go’s, a couple of Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, and Suzanne Vega. Looks like Lilith is aiming for a cross-section of genres, and not as much of the folky, earthy vibe of the past. The lady-centric tour, designed to celebrate women in music, has been defunct since 1999. So…who’s buying our ticket? Because there’s no way we’re missing this concert. [MTV]

The 'American Idol' Move: Was It Fair?

When American Idol producers decided to move this week’s ladies’ semifinal performance night from Tuesday to Wednesday because one of the contestants had a medical issue, it was kind of a big deal. Now that we’ve had time to absorb the magnitude of the decision, we’ve decided it’s even bigger of a deal. That’s why today’s Controversy of the Day is about Idol’s big move: Was it fair?

The medical mystery is cleared up — we now know Crystal Bowersox was hospitalized for a complication related to her diabetes (which we will henceforth call ‘beetus, following Crystal’s lead). Though there was speculation yesterday that she still wouldn’t be able to perform, Crystal made it to last night’s episode, performed first, and earned raves from all four judges. It’s been clear since Hollywood Week that Crystal would be one to watch, but if she hadn’t been such a promising contestant, would the show have been pushed?

We don’t think so. Despite how great we think she is (and she is most definitely great), we think the producers definitely gave her preferential treatment in deciding to move the show. Simon Cowell has said that he thinks a girl will win the season, and during last night’s critique, he compared Crystal to Kelly Clarkson. Crystal is clearly one of the most promising contestants, and if she didn’t show so much potential (and chance of actually winning the whole competition), we don’t think the show would’ve been moved.

Do you think it was unfair that Idol producers pushed the ladies’ show? Would they have done it for anyone else? Is David Cook’s past Idol hospitalization a sign that Crystal will win the show?

Airbrush Alert: Annalynne McCord On 'Shape'

AnnaLynne McCord is on the cover of the upcoming issue of Shape magazine, and she’s looking hot in a bright pink bikini. But we couldn’t help but notice that it looks like the Shape editors have done a bit of airbrushing, which we think is probably completely unnecessary for the 90210 babe.

The result is that the cover pic looks as though AnnaLynne’s head has been attached to someone else’s body. And the weird heavenly glow behind her only adds to the picture’s deceit. (Although it’s not as bad as Self’s Kelly Clarkson touch up job.)

Check out of AnnaLynne at Fashion Week — she may look a little crazy with her beauty pageant hair, but there’s no doubt her body doesn’t need a touch up.

Britney Teams Up a New Manager

Rumor has it that Britney may have signed up a new manager, Jeff Kwatinez. Kwatinez, CEO of The Firm, former manager of Kelly Clarkson and lastly, former fiance of Brittany Murphy.

Not to question Britney’s management skills and not as if anything has changed since she fired Larry Rudolph, but I think that this is a great move on Brit’s side and can only help her and allow more time for what she should really be doing.
