SMALLVILLE 9.07 “Kandor”
Airdate: November 6, 2009

This could be the episode when Clark/Kal-El finally meets his real father Jor-El! The episode summary for “Kandor” spoils that Jor-El will go back to Smallville to search for his son.

JOR-EL APPEARS IN SMALLVILLE — Jor-El (guest star Julian Sands) mysteriously arrives at the Kent farm searching for his son, Kal-El, but meets Chloe (Allison Mack) instead. Convinced the Blur is Jor-El, Zod (Callum Blue) enlists Tess’ (Cassidy Freeman) help in finding him to force him to reveal the secret to his powers. Clark (Tom Welling) realizes Jor-El is alive and on Earth and races to find him before Zod does. Erica Durance and Justin Hartley also star. Jeannot Szwarc directed the episode written by Turi Meyer & Al Septien

So judging from this small snippet of spoiler, Jor-El had already sent Kal-El to earth, and so by this time Krypton was already destroyed. It would be great to have father and son meet face-to-face. I think a meeting like that would help Clark embrace his true identity and accept what his father has been teaching him all along.

I wonder what kind of person Jor-El is portrayed. We’ve become so familiar with his voice in the Fortress and somehow know him to be a hard man, and Clark has only reluctantly submitted/obeyed his father because of his destiny, and yet there really is no father-son affection between them. Clark calls him “Jor-El” instead of Dad so that tells you a lot about Clark’s feeling toward his bio-father.

I hope this episode improves that relationship a little bit.

“Smallville“ got four nominations for the Teen Choice Awards ‘08, but went home with nothing at all. In fact, none of the Smallville stars seem to have been present (sans photos), unless I missed them in the throng of celebrities that came.

Instead of Smallville, the Choice TV show for Action Adventure went to Heroes.

Instead of Kristin Kreuk, the Choice TV Actress for Action/Adventure was Hayden Panettiere of “Heroes”.

Instead of Michael Rosenbaum, Choice TV Villain went to Ed Westwick of “Gossip Girls”.

Now what’s weird was there was no winner announced for Choice TV Actor for Action/Adventure in which Tom Welling was nominated.

This doesn’t bode very well for Smallville, which is on its last season this year.

He plays the Green Arrow/Oliver Queen like it was meant for him, and he has such a following that fans really wanted to see more of him since he first appeared in season 6. I think he deserves a spin-off after Smallville.

At the Comic Con, Sci Fi Wire touched based with Justin Hartley about his excitement to play the green archer in Smallville, and included some SPOILERS in the interview.

In season 8, we get to explore the mythology and origin behind Green Arrow

Oliver is going to question his motives for being a hero

Clark starts to embrace his destiny a little bit more

Is Kristin Kreuk really saying goodbye to Smallville?

The Lana Lang of television admitted that Smallville is the longest relationship she has had in the past 7 years. “And it has now pretty much ended.” As a way to seal the freedom, Kristin Kreuk cut off ALL her hair!

I (Kristin) just went in there on my own and Sarah (she is the key hairstylist on Smallville, and is freakin rad) tied it in a ponytail and sawed the sucker off…

The cut looks great on Kristin, but I’m surprised to find her very thin and haggard-looking in this photo. She looked different at the Comic Con last week. Maybe it’s the stress of filming a new movie.

She landed the title role for the movie adaptation of the video game “Street Fighter 4: The Legend of Chun-Li“. The film is still in productions and very few pictures have appeared… up until now…

The StreetFightermovie.net blog is up and running with pictures of the cast, some behind-the-scenes and insider look at the movie. Movieweb also has set photos of Kristin Kreuk and the other cast. And then of course, there are the YouTube images –

Just to clarify, Kristin will still appear in Smallville, in a few episodes as a guest star. She just won’t become a series regular anymore.

Premiere episode titled “Odyssey” will be all about searching for a missing Clark Kent.

Green Arrow/Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) is leading the rescue… and Hartley is a mainstay for 12 episodes.

The Justice League comes back with Green Arrow, Aquaman (Alan Ritchson), Black Canary (Alaina Huffman), along with the Martian Manhunter (Phil Morris)

This season’s theme is “double identities” as Clark Kent begins to take on his role as a superman

The Lois-and-Clark team will be born as Clark takes a desk job at the Daily Planet across the desk from Lois Lane (Erica Durance)

Despite the departure of Smallville creators/executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar, the remaining producers of the show says that they’re staying true to the vision laid out by Miles and Gough. “Luckily [Al and Miles'] voices are still talking to us in our heads as we’re breaking stories,” producer Kelly Souders said. “Their visions come to us all the time, so I think they did a great job of preparing us for this day.”

Smallville season 8 will come back in September on its regular Thursday 8pm schedule at the CW.
